Call of action against excessive requirements for NYS boxing even

Call of action against excessive insurance requirements for New York State Boxing events . These new requirements have crippled the boxing industry in New York State, pushing promoters out of state and in some cases , pushing them out of business all together .
Please note , due to the new insurance regulation , there are NO scheduled professional boxing events on the New York State Athletic Commissions calendar for the remaining year.
An organization called Coalition Against Unnecassary Boxing and MMA Regulations comprised of NYS Promoters and constituents lead by Promoter Mercedes Vazquez Simmons, feel the new insurance requirements does absolutely NOTHING to ensure boxer safety. We believe new boxing regulations that include education and accountability of boxers & cornermen will help minimize injury .
An example of when appropriate regulations were implemented was the case of professional boxer William Classen . His unfortunately death in 1979 prompted new regulations that mandates ambulatory services for all boxing events . Read more about this: ESPN - The Fight that Killed

Additionally by imposing higher insurance requirements for NYS promoters , not only does it have a negative impact on promoters but it also professional fighters from all over the world, their respective teams ,the local
economy: local hired resources, hospitality /Tourism , restaurants , and the state due to lack taxes being collected on ticket sales , merchandise and television .
