Cops in Utah should know what lewdness means before charging anyone with it

Someone I know got charged with lewdness even though they made sure to pick a very remote spot in a parking lot to have sex with their partner in. They're both consenting adults and have never been charged with a sex crime before. That cop literally could have just let those people off with a warning and told them not to do that again instead of charging them with lewdness and not even telling them about their rights to remain silent. Apparently someone somehow saw them having sex in a car and had the nerve to call the cops on them. Lewdness, according to Utah law, is having sex in public. A remote spot in a parking lot is not a public place. Let's make sure that next time a cop charges anyone with lewdness, the cop understands the meaning of the word lewdness and what counts as a public place.IMG_2128.jpeg
