Although I live a long way from this airfield I have a strong liking of all things aviation related and it would be a very sad event if another light aircraft aerodrome was to be closed due to the requirements of people seeking to make more money personal reasons

We need to keep all existing airfields open and try to re-open any closed ones; we are losing too many.

I may live in Australia but I visit the mother country and I fly. Also, I understand that local, diverse airfields are important. They are the areas that people learn to fly safely, where that sense of wonder and "maybe I could learn to do that" is fostered, where the helicopter can land to transfer great auntie Mable from the ambulance to emergency care. Local airfields are an insurance against being average. They are important.

I have been to N Coates a few times, including a Wings & Wheels fly-in where there were all sorts of members of the public & young families enjoying looking at old aircraft and cars: wonderful! It would be terrible shame to loose all this for commercial greed.

Airfields are dwindling in number and the government have stated that GA must be supported. If alternatives are available then these must be considered.

Wind farms are going up to make MONEY with little regard for the environment or the locals in that area, to put a wind pylon on the end or near a runway is a danger to ALL IN THAT AREA

#160: tom - north coates threatened for no valid reason

The compounds are on both thresholds, however the secretaray of state has deemed that no development can take place within half a mile from the boundary of the airfield until the club and the developer agree the location of the compounds. Flight safety is the paramount issue and the Secretary of State will only rubber stamp this if that issue has been satisfied. The club no doubt is hopeful that the developer will now redress the the whole issue of compounds within the circuit area

Bloody rediculous, why build things like that so close to an airfield... Do they want to close such a charming gem ??

This seems to be as common as tax evasion in the UK. In the north of England alone I know of four airfields  in the last 12 months where a company has put planning in which would destroy a community, endanger lives and remove years of heritage. Do people not actually look at the area around them or are they more concerned with filling their pockets with money from other people's livelihoods?

I worked at RAF North Coates on the Bloudhound missile. This airfield should not be forced to close because it is part of our Aviation heratige.

Wind farms create no worthwhile energy and are a blot on the landscape and are a hazard to aviation.

This is a silly proposal and should be rejected in favour of a more suitable location.

The developers should have more thought for other people and should choose the alternative site, so the airfield can carry on with its normal duties.

I have no direct connection wit north coates but as an aviation enthusiast and semi retired aircraft engineer I am worried at the constant erosion of airfields in the UK, we used to be no.1 but now are way down the list.

We must protect as many GA airfields from developers simply interested in making a profit. The world is too interested in money.

These so called green ???? inefficient generating turbines are systematically destroying our countryside and no thought is given to the actual damage caused by them, but it is obviously politically correct to erect them to please certain factions. I suggest to anyone, go and have a look on the West Coast of Cumbria between Flimby and Workington to see how the area has been decimated.

They have another option that would not affect the club on a historical airfiled
