There should be no question that a footbridge is the
safest way to cross an exceptionally busy road.

Many college students already risk their lives sprinting across the A316 rather than waiting for the pedestrian lights, if the footbridge is closed, the numbers who use the footbridge may well join them making fatalities on that busy road even more likely

“Transport for London want to remove the existing roundabout, a few hundred yards west of this junction as it is in need of repair.  This will aggravate the problem.”

Would the author please clarify which roundabout his petition to TfL and LBRuT relates to.

The footbridges would go a long way towards improving what is a terrible situation for locals and a dangerous one for walkers, whether going to events or not. The RFU earns billions out of our Borough. These proposals would save lives. If someone is killed would the RFYU like to explain whay thei couldn't spare a minute fraction of their eye watering gains to keep punters and locals safer? These bridges should be built.

there needs to be a better system of moving the fans to and from the ground, a bridge would be a start.

Could not agree more, the current consultation on the existing bridge needs to be heeded there is a school adjacent and people cross to go to St. Margaret's station. To even suggest doing away with the existing bridge is stupid and short sighted and I do not accept the reasons for this, we do need more bridge crossings. This is a major stadium and TfL need to wake up to the volumes of people and traffic we get around here.

Such a sensible solution to improve safety for everyone.

Let's use common sense here. There needs to be a better way to get 80000 people across a major A road than stopping and starting the traffic. Please build more bridges. Big wide ones! Thanks

Totally agree. The area is gridlocked every time. Every inch of green space near the stadium is turned into a car park which makes traffic so much worse but gives the rich and famous total door to door convenience. Why have TFL and BRUT not done anything. Incompetence or something else.

It's a no-brainer that having pedestrians bridges is the obvious solution to ease the congestions for traffic and rugby fans

An underpass from The Stoop to RFU Twickenham stadium would kill many birds with one stone.

Living close to the stadium means highly restricted movement by foot, public transport and car. Any thing that will help alleviate the situation should be explored.

We need a pedestrian bridge at the junction of Whitton and Chertsey Roads to ease traffic congestion when the stadium is in use. There are 60,000+ rugby fans!

Don't build bridges over people's houses!  There is no room for the footprint of bridges that would be able to carry anywhere near the numbers required.  Think the Wembley access bridge: it's huge!  The whole of Whitton Road is chock full of fans.  Unless you have an equally wide bridge there would be a major crowd control problem.

Just deal with it for a few weekends a year.  Been that way since forever anyway.

Make use of the existing facilities to pulse people over the road in quick chunks.  The sliding railings installed at great expense for the World Cup were never used.
