To legalize racial segregation is a mark of the depths of bigotry, arrogance and hubris to which Fidesz has sunk. This move is an affront to basic values. The EU must now move with infringement proceedings against Hungary.

Rasism has many faces. One of them is continuing cutting education oppurtunities for Roma.
Human rights are for Roma too. Stop creating people which are not educated and will have more less opportunities to get a work.

I spent 12 months in Hungary and witnessed the treatment of Roma people on a regular basis. The way forward is integration and education, not segregation. I am ashamed that Hungary would contemplate such a move and call for Balog Zoltan to be stood down. He is failing the people he should be helping.

Living in Hungary is becoming scarier by the day thanks to Orban and his little helpers. I hope that the Hungarian people will soon rise and refuse to be ruled by neo-fascists!

The legalization of segregated education violates the dignity of the whole society and makes it impossible to live together as equal citizens.

Children must not be subject to discrimination. This is a contravention of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

It's taken European governments a long time to acknowledge that "separate education is inherently unequal". Hungary had made progress with legislation that allowed for segregation to successfully be challenged in courts. It's tragic to see the government proposing to change this. This amendment would be a huge step back. It must be stopped.

In 1954 the Supreme Court ruled segregation in schools unconstitutional. The same protections should apply to all, including roma children in Hungary. Segregation in schools is not just unethical but also harmful to all members of society. Since Brown a strong African-American middle class emerged, we have many prominent African-American scientists and educators. While there are still serious problems, none of this progress would have occured with segregated schools.

La ségrégation, tout comme le racisme, l'exclusion ... est inacceptable parce que contraire au principe d'égalité ; elle l'est d'autant plus quand ce sont les enfants qui sont visés !!!
