Thank you for starting this petition. The EAC is just one example of stagnating 'authorities' all over the world that need to wake up and smell the coffee. Basic utilities are a necessity, not a luxury. End of.

This is my voice to complaint in protest of unfair and high prices charged by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), which are imposed unilaterally on me as a customer having no other viable and reasonably priced electricity providers to choose from. I have signed this petition in order to end bills that are higher than rent and keep getting higher even though there is an economic crisis in our country, and in order to end this effective monopoly by exercising my personal democratic rights to protest against unfair treatment and anti-competitive practices that are against EU law.

Time the EU did something about this disgraceful situation. We are hostages to the EAC, with no hope in hell of getting "our" ransoms paid!

neither should we be paying the highest VAT on a basic necessity.

Salaries and pensions of EAC people follow the invoices from EAC. Why people of Cyprus have to be responsible for the blast? Have we made it? How it happened that the authorities of EAC DID NOT DO ANYTHING AT ALL knowing that explosives are near? WHY MUST WE PAY MORE AND MORE EACH BILL? Is it for making life easier for EAC? Are we, people living in Cyprus, shareholders of EACH who have to pay losses of the company? EAC say about open market BUT THEY CREATE HUGE PROBLEMS TO EVERYONE who tries to come to Cyprus with thoughts about electricity? Only few were lucky but ask them what was the price for them....

had enough of being ripped for for electric and internet and the bad service we have been getting. Cyprus is now part of the EU and should move with the rtimes especially as they will be the EU acting presdents this year

The prices can't be allowed to rise at the present rate, it is criminally irresponsible given the current economic climate in Cyprus right now. There are so many poorly paid employees in the declining holiday industry who will have to choose between electricity or food.

#8: - Can't complain about the internet SERVICE, but the COST of it is outrageously high.  5 yrs ago I was told by Cyta that it would come down when more people used it.  Well a lot more people use it now than then and it hasn't come down.

It is crazy the amount we have to pay and the increase due to the incompetence of the authorities to store munitions in containers next to a power plant ... why should we pay for that??????

Being a young couple with a baby, this year we have found paying for these bills even harder. After all the baby items we have to buy each week there is very little at the end of each week, and we have never payed a bill on time because we have to save little by little each week!

The electricity prices with all the extra surcharges imposed to pay for the damage to the main power station, due to this Cyprus "Government" are a total rip off!

They have always been unfair, going back to the days when or tv licence was attached to the electricity bill.

With increased electricity bills more and more businesses will close. People without work and pensioners will be unable to pay and will freeze or starve in this inclement winter. Prices will rise even higher and they are already at a ridiculous level. They have us over the proverbial barrel and there is little we can do except put on more clothes.

TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE AVERAGE PERSON ON CYPRUS

I SUGGEST THAT THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXPLOSION AT MARI ( AND NOT THE AVERAGE CITIZEN) SHOULD BE FORCED TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES CAUSED. LETS SEE THESE GENTLEMEN LOSE THEIR WAGES, PROPERTY, AND PENSIONS. IN THIS ECONOMIC CLIMATE INCREASED BILLS ONLY SERVE TO MAKE THINGS WORSE.

The Cyprus electricity authority takes advantage its monopoly status in Cyprus with disgrace towards the cypriot population which have supported it throughout the years. It is time to stop this explotation
