Well you only had weeks and weeks to put in a submission. Best of luck, but I'd say it's all over red rover.

About time

About time!

About time! Finally the shooters on the northside of Brisbane have a range of there own, with council approval this range can now be developed properly for the benefit of all the law abiding over regulated shooters on this side of town.

#29 Really?

most people think that moving to country or rural area's will be somewhat peaceful and quite, well its not, Ive lived in country towns and further out on farmlands, the reality is that if its not firearms being discharged than there is always the motor bikes, tractors, machinery etc. One of the sole purposes for having such large acreage is so one can perform said activities without having to drive an hour and a half. This club should be given approval by council, as state its been operating "illegally" since 1994, which by the looks of the residents that have posted, it was open and operating long before use had moved in. OPEN THE RANGE!

I support this range and your objections about wild life and pollution are far nd away the blatherings of ill informed malcontents As for the people who use the swimming holes you mentioned have you ever seen the disgusting mess of beer cans and plastic left by the weekend revellers who use those water holes not to mention the erosion of the roadside when they leave and drop the mandatory wheelie as they do so

#29: - Really?

This Branch got the approval from Council in late January, they are doing what council requires and what we need, so to all the objectors, not very many of you, but lots of supporters,  I'm a supporter, many members live really close by. But thanks to the Councillors for listening to the supporters and standing up for the right people for once.  Rocksberg will have something to be proud of. Thanks also to the property owners for letting all of us members being able to put some ranges on their land, they are great people, should be more people like them. Owners can still have their friends shoot on another part of their property like they should be able too. Its called Recreational Shooting and its not illegal. No you wont have the value of your property drop. For the people that said they will have to move, what rubbish. At least there will be a place where we wheelies can go and shoot with others for fun and a good sport.

A Branch of SSAA in Ripley if you didn't see it on TV, has just planted hundreds of trees for koalas, it has been proved that koalas and wildlife can live with the sound of gunshot and it doesn't worry them. Good for wildlife and Target Shooters alike.

I know allot of shooters, Good lot, and responsible lot from what I have seen and talked about.
I 100% support this range, I'm not going to judge them based on silly anti gunner propaganda.

first thing I say to anyone and its something everyone should do is do your research by experiencing the sport for your self rather then passing judgment based on deceptive media. Go do a fire arms safety course to familiarize your self with firearms and or just go down to a club and tell them you want to give it a go because your interested in the sport and they will instruct you. for the most part they are great people unless you don't listen to strict safety procedure.

all SSAA ranges are wild life reserves, all animals are safe there, check with other ranges, the animals feed while shooting takes place

Lets not let gun culture take over our country and distroy the beautiful parts like it has America.
Thanks to RARRR

Not long now and it will be open for business! Can't wait to see it up and running and I have to say thankyou to RARRR for helping to drive the membership numbers up with all their free advertising that went out advising the residents around the local area that a range was indeed being built, thanks again for all your support in seeing this range getting approval.

#38 Re: Uneducated citizens commenting on firearm topics

abcdef abcdef

This juvenile and misguided statement basically sums up the ‘anti-gun’ crowd.

If only they realised that firearms are nothing like how they are portrayed in Hollywood.

Not a single person (be it government town planner, journalist or just a civilian) can comment on these firearm topics without first learning and familiarizing themselves with the subject at hand. I can’t stress that enough.

Attend a firearm safety course or go down to your local firearm range and take a look... or heaven forbid, fill out some forms and rent a gun for an hour… be careful though you might enjoy the sport!

These gun clubs do far FAR more to conserve the environment and local wildlife than the average ‘do-gooder’ environmental fanatic.

I feel that if half of these environmental ‘crusaders’ actually did a single scrap of research they would realise that the majority of licenced firearm owners are huge advocates for protecting the environment, maintaining the native wildlife and following safety procedures.

Firearm owners in Australia have already coped a huge beating by ‘do-gooders’ (who know nothing about the industry) advocating continued bans and restrictions.

I feel sorry for the next generation of firearm owners; the abuse they have to put up with is ridiculous and offensive to their sport.

i think it's hilarious people bang on about wildlife conservation while they clear huge swathes of land for their "piece and quiet", dump a massive slab of concrete and bring in a huge dozed to smash down trees to build their dream houses. It's a rifle range, I don't recall one EVER having an accident. It will bring in money, grow conservation awarenes etc. what these conservationist don't understand is letting feral pigs, dogs and goats go rampant actually destroys native wildlife - and- having an infinite number of Roos is not conservation. It's not a view backed by science of reason. I hope the council build more ranges and get more people hunting. In the end, you can feed pest species or feed yourselves. It's that simple. I choose to eat over some misguided Green socialist point of view that is entirely emotionally driven.
