Anything that encourages youngsters to participate in sport must be supported and its potential investigated. Good Luck with your venture.

This can only be for the good of youngsters football as it is a massive step up from 7s to 11s. Come on guys get signing today

Needs to happen.
Bridge between 7s and 11s is far too big and jading.
Should be an obvious state of common sense.

#30 SFA should fund the cost of 7 aside to 9 aside

2014-06-21 23:19

I would suggest the SFA fund the cost of this is the only reason it isn't happening. Every School and public park throughout the country should have sets of moveable goals for this to be implemented.

Support the future of our game.

I am a couch with Tass Thistle Under9s and think this would benefit the kids instead of making the transition from 7s to 11s.

Time for change. Boys been playing 7's for a few years great progress from 4's. 9's would be better before 11's not such a big jump

This should have happened a while ago. One way to confuse the kids is going from 7 to 11 a side. Well done

It is the natural progression for the kids and also takes the pressure of clubs trying to find players.

Makes sense. 7-a-side pitch size to full size 11-a-side picthes is a massive jump.

9 a side seems to be the obvious choice to gradually introduce the kids to 11 a side instead of jumping straight from 7's to 11's

Who is the person that is making these decisions clearly no doing there homework

There's needs to be another stage between 7's and 11's to help the kids progress naturally into 11 aside, it is too big a jump from playing 7's

It's not rocket science more touches on the ball better technique and touch, also more touches, always involved in the match the more the kid enjoys the game.oh aye another thing the kids also need to fall in love with the game so let them learn first and compete later not the other way about! Brains over brawn , craft over graft, no more lazy coaching and no more win at all costs fitbaw! And yes"time to play 9s"is a step in the right direction in the development of these young kids. Oh aye rant over!

Better transition from 7 a side to 11 a side.
All good!!

The step up from 7 aside to 11 is too much, and it's affecting the development of football in Scotland in a negative way, 9 aside would give the players a much better chance of understanding the game and make them ready to take on 11 aside

Because the gap between 7s and 11aside its needs to be changed also it allows coaches to teach the kids mor of the rudiments of the game so its a big yes from me

How many children do they say lose interest when they move from 7v7 to 11v11. Could it not be that the child has been overwhelmed by such a large jump in team members to play with and read to feel confident.

9s are played in England and all over Europe it's time we move forward again with youth football as we have to keep evolving to to keep up with the rest

Makes perfect sense to make the last year before 11s into 9s. The players will have more options to develop their skills and a natural progression to 11s. Many leagues around the country implement this idea without a problem.

Prepare the boys and girls better for 11 a side by supporting the 9 a side proposal. Better for there positional awareness as well as there confidence moving forward.

#49 9-a-side

Think this is the right Step for Junior & Youth football. Allows the kids to make the step up while still learning the game at a young age.

Would even take this a step further and introduce a year of 5-a-side after fun 4's to allow the introduction of a goal keeper rather than just suddenly throw one in in 7-a-side goals which are massive for them to begin with. After all it's all about the kids development and without grassroots there would be no multi million £ contracts
