My husband and I witnessed Kaffitár's beginning, from nothing but a dream, a quarter of a century ago in the US midwest. The founder, the Icelandic mother of three and a wife of a graduate student, made a deal with the local coffee merchant: she worked for free and he taught her everything about coffee making. A year or two later she bought a used roaster, dragged it behind the family car to the east coast to be shipped to Iceland. After years of careful planning she opened her first little shop.. We have been so impressed with all the effort, expanded to constant connection to coffee growers abroad and the excellent running of Kaffiár's Icelandic business. We've been delighted to sip Kaffitár's coffee at the airport when we come from and go to Iceland. Please, please, keep a good thing going!
