Stop Police Spying with StingRay and Protect Our Privacy

I, the undersigned, am petitioning the Congress to please pass laws that will protect private citizens from being spied on by police departments and law enforcement agencies through the use of cell-site simulating devices and technologies such as StingRay. I strongly believe these technologies to be invasive, violating our constitutional right to privacy.

StingRay and other cell-site simulating devices work by collecting data from all mobile phones within its radius. As long as the mobile phone is on, StingRay can locate its user, as well as identify whom the user is calling or texting and the content of the said call or text. StingRay does not differentiate between targets and bystanders and can download data from just about anyone. Police departments have been secretive about their use of these surveillance devices and do so without any court order or permission.

Our right to privacy must not be violated regardless of intent. Therefore, I am petitioning the Congress to enact laws that will protect our privacy from illegal surveillances using StingRay and other cell-site simulators.

The undersigned,

Becka Ellis - Head Trainer for Excel Classes - Chicago
