Yulia Tymoshenko

Yulia Tymoshenco was prime minister of the Ukraine and during her time in office she did many good things. She started the velvet revolution which moved Ukraine to friendly relations with the west. She cut the salaries of M.Ps and ministers by half and cracked down hard on corruption in the energy sector.  She negotiated energy deals with Naftogaz and the Russian energy giant Gazprom as a result a pricing formula was agreed which excluded all political elements and Russia now supplies gas based on an economic formula that is generaly aqccepted in Europe

There is bad blood between President Victor Yanukovich and Yulia Tymoshenko, this is why she is serving a seven year sentence for so say abuse of power. She has been beaten up in jail, photos were in our national papers and is in deperate need of back treatment in Germany. This has been refused

Yanukovich desires to sign up with the EU. The solution should be to pardon Yulia Tymoshenkon and let her go to Germany for back treatment. If Euro MP's would press for this before a deal is signed at the end of November to bring Ukraine into the EU and they are in a strong position to do so. Every one would be a winner including Yanukovich because he would win much praise for his magnanimity. However I fear Euro MP's are reluctant to take this step before the deadline of November 30th when this deal will be signed. Please pressure your Euro Mp on this subject. We are in a strong position to do so but our Euro MP's seem to lack the back bone.
