Urgent NCS petition regarding per student spending

2011-03-17 13:59:01
I apologize if you have received another email regarding this petition, but in an effort to reach as many parents as possible concerned members of the PTA have agreed to send this out to their email contacts.

Please take a minute to review the attachment regarding the current funding of Chatham County schools.  As you will see, the funding is not equitable in regards to per student spending.  For example, Bonlee receives $3,918.67 per student while NCS receives only $2,899.77 per student.  Many services that we have lost, such as foreign language, are still offered at other schools in the county.

Next year, the county budget will be cut by 2.5 million dollars.  We are asking the BOE to make sure those cuts are distributed in an equitable fashion.  The current inequities must be taken into consideration.

There are two things you can do to help.  Please sign the petition    http://www.change.org/petitions/equitable-funding-for-chatham-county-schools#?opt_new=f     requesting equity in per student spending and consideration of non-proficient students (ESL, EC) funding.  Resources should be spent where it is most needed in the county.  Also, please join us this coming Monday night at the BOE meeting.  Fellow NCS parent, Karen Howard will be presenting our concerns to the board.  Please wear NCS colors so the board can clearly see who is in support of NCS.  I believe the meeting is at Horton at 6:00.  If that changes, I will let you know.

Thank you for your time and your consideration.
