Tiltakozás a Társadalmi nemek tanulmánya mesterszak megszüntetése ellen

2018 augusztusában hazai és nemzetközi tiltakozás fogadta az EMMI és az Igazságügyi Minisztérium rendeletmódosító tervezetét, amely a Társadalmi nemek tanulmánya mesterszak megszüntetését javasolta.

Az Oktatói Hálózat akkor 4 nyelven tette közzé tiltakozó petícióját, amelyet több mint ötezren írták alá a világ minden tájáról.

Alig 2 hónappal később a Magyar Közlöny október 12-i számában közölt kormányrendeletben az alábbi szöveg jelent meg: „Hatályát veszti a 139/2015. (VI. 9.) Korm. rendelet 3. mellékletében foglalt táblázat 115. sora.”

Csak szakavatott jogászok vagy rejtvényfejtők érthették meg ebből a ködös utalásból, hogy a rendelet eltörölte a Társadalmi nemek tanulmánya mesterszakot. Ezzel a döntésével a magyar kormány ismét durván megsértette a tanszabadságot és az egyetemi autonómiát.

A Társadalmi nemek tanulmánya mesterszak megszüntetése szerves része annak a felelőtlen és kártékony kormánypolitikának, amely 2012 óta sújtja a tudomány és az oktatás területét, és amely intézményeink leépüléséhez és szakmai tevékenységünk ellehetetlenítéséhez vezet.

Noha a jelentős hazai és nemzetközi tiltakozás nem érte el a célját, nincs más alternatívánk, mint hogy folytassuk az ellenállást.  Felhívjuk a hazai és a nemzetközi szakmai műhelyeket, közösségeket, érdekvédelmi és civil szervezeteket, hogy erejüknek és lehetőségeiknek megfelelően folytassák a tiltakozást, találják meg az ellenállás és a szolidaritás új formáit.

Protest against banning the Gender Studies masters degree program in Hungary

In August 2018 domestic and international protests followed a draft decree from the Ministry of Human Resources and the Ministry of Justice proposing the abolition of the Gender Studies masters degree program.

The Network of Academics published its petition in four languages at that time, signed by more than 5000 individuals and associations from all over the world.

Just two months later, the government decree published in the October 12 issue of the Hungarian Gazette read as follows: "The line 115 of the chart included into the third appendix of the 139/2015 (VI.9.) Governmental Decree has lapsed".

Only qualified lawyers or good riddle solvers could understand this misty reference that the decree abolished the Gender Studies masters degree in Hungary. With this decision, the Hungarian government has again grossly violated the freedom of education and university autonomy.

The abolition of the Gender Studies masters degree is an integral part of the irresponsible and malicious governmental policy that has hobbled science and education since 2012 and which signals the fall of our institutions and the throttling of our professional activity.

Although significant domestic and international protests did not achieve their goal, we see no alternative to continuing the resistance. We appeal to domestic and international professional workshops, communities, advocacy and non-governmental organizations to continue their protest in accordance with their strength and capabilities -- finding, offering, and presenting new forms of resistance and solidarity.
