This is such a tragedy and my heart goes out to the family. The tiger should not be put down though, it's a wild caged animal and we take this risk when we work with them. I've heard people suggest it be moved, I think this is a good suggestion and would hopefully help the family knowing it's no longer near by.

What would the zoo keeper want to happen to the tiger, remember this person dedicated there life to animals, is killing it really the right thing to do. Perhaps we should stop destroying there habitat and they wouldn't have to be in zoo's in the first place.

You can't punish a wild animal for what it does by instinct. Tigers are so rare....everyone single one is sacred. I'm sure the keeper would understand and agree.

We must save every single tiger, they are endangered because of us.

Humans have killed thousands of tigers and other big cats by destroying their habitat. We have to STOP this and care for every single cat left. Meow.

These are wild animals caged or not..... when you are in contact with them you are always taking a certain amount of risk... these animals cannot be blamed for doing what comes natural to them. I feel sorry for the man that died but I am sure he knew of the risk. The tiger should not be put down.
Wild animals need to be amired from a far. Please don't hurt the tiger.

Why do people want to kill animals for doing what comes natural to them. Humans have killed thousands of tigers and other animals, but as soon a natural killing machine that we think that we have tamed and we can treat like a domestic cat, attacks a human it must be put down. It is sad, and I do feel for the trainer and her family, but is it the tigers fault or ours??

An animal shouldn't be blamed or killed for it's natural instinctive actions..one life lost is more than enough
Oz should live

The big predator has no choice about being in captivity.
Humans decided to keep it so and human intelligence understands predator behaviour and the risks involved.
The responsibility for the safety of both handlers and animal lies solely with the humans.

Even though I have deep sympathy for the family who lost a loved one, killing this tiger will not undo anything. This is a tiger. A wild animal. I do believe we should do what we can to help this animal in the wild, but, that is exactly where it belongs. Not in captivity.
You can not blame a wild animal for being and acting like a wild animal.

I signed this petition because tigers are an endangered species. Also are there any medical reasons why this tiger was so temperamental? Was the tiger playing rough? I appreciate all the zoo keepers who look after these endangered animals. My condolences to the staff & family at Hamilton zoo.

if I was in the same situation as the zoo keeper I would not want to have this beautiful animal put down - they are supposed to be in the wild not locked up in a cage - he was only doing what they do out in the wild. Its very sad that the zookeeper has lost her life and the family has lost a daughter, sister, aunty, but she knew the risks involved when she took on to looking after and caring for OZ

Tigers are wild animals. You can't tame them and make them lose their kill instinct.

Because this animal only did what tigers do; it wasn't the fault of the Tiger!
The rules of entry to enclosure weren't followed correctly!
Totally different to someone's dog not being under control & injuring or killing a person!

I absolutely love cat's big and small. I have even been in and sat with Mohan the white tiger in Australia got awesome photo's. It's not their fault they are kept in zoo's. After all they are not tamed. Love them all. Christine Agnew.

You don't kill a wild animal for being wild! This tiger did what he knew to do! I feel sure there must be an alternative for this tiger which should include a sanctuary where he has grass and room to run!

This tiger can't be blamed...man created this problem himself
