The area already has substantial development going on. This is a huge archaeological and cultural treasure. $500 million one time may seem like a lot but the Lebanese government should be mindful that turning this into a site or museum and charging money for admission will bring sustained revenue for years more than a real estate development ever could.

We would beg all those concerned:
- Ministry of Culture
- Lebanese Government
- UNESCO
- Lebanese diaspora
To evaluate and act conscientiously...

I wonder why we in lebanon get more interested in natural Wonders than man made wonders that date back thousands of years. This port highlights the advancement of the civilization that roamed our lands before any other! Protect our heritage, just like you rushed to promote for a scam vote to make Jeita a wonder of the world!

The Lebanese are so proud of their history and culture but in a very schizophrenic way are killing it with aggressive urbanization...

This is unacceptable! This situation should not be left for the Lebanese to decide on, as it is very very obvious that the political will somehow will lean towards the investors! This port is part of the history of mankind and if truly unraveled as such, should be under the UNESCO protected sites!!!

protecting heritege is important because it lets up know what lead up to where we are today in our lives. i support this because of being from an italian family that moved to america 70 years ago it makes me want to persurve the wonders of life since i dont know much about my heritage, this gives people the chance to know.
