This sounds like thinly disguised racism to me.
I live near Pomegranate, and walk past nearly every day. Far from being an 'eyesore' I find the shopfront beautiful to look at, and the twinkly lights inside look so inviting.

As a customer of this lovely place I find it hard to understand why any one would object! Utterly unfounded and unfair complaints! If this is to go ahead it would be yet ANOTHER ridiculous decision by Edinburgh city council. One busy body with nothing better to do, Makes a complaint, and a business has to lose it's identity. As I work in design and marketing I know this aspect of branding is key to any business' success. Absolutely disgusting! Show some common sense and back bone Edinburgh City Council!

I live just around the corner from the restaurant. It is within my local neighbourhood and I don't find it remotely offensive. I can't understand why they are singled out when it is flanked on all sides by Thai, Indian and Italian restaurants with equally unique and culturally distinct outdoor signage.

The sign outside Pomegranate, in my opinion, is lovely and brightens up the area in a positive way..unlike many of the garish signs outside the other shops, bars and clubs in the area.

Lovely restaurant. Their frontage its no more or less "offensive" than the previous restaurant...

The Pomegranate is one of our favourite restaurants with a great ambience, delicious affordable cuisine and excellent service. We especially love the Arabic room as well as quirky shisha pipes. Edinburgh shouldn't lose such a jewel of a place.

Come on Edinburgh Council A few wee notices at the door Who is the person who finds this so offensive ? Do they have an ulterior motive ?

I wonder if its the same person who tried to get Real Foods to remove its sign, outdoor food stands and window boxes? I suspect it's a kill joy. Sure thethere are 1000s of us who can show we beg to differ!

That is ridiculous. I walk past that restaurant every day on my way to work, and if they have to change their front then just about all the other shops/restaurants in that area will have to change as well. Get a grip CEC

Racist people should be the one penalised not the victim.
We are a multi racial country are we not! Perhaps it's narrow minded people that need educated!

So, you're being made to disrupt your business because you have a racist neighbour? I would suggest your racist neighbour should remove their offensive curtains and door handles, no?

Save this wonderful restaurant. How can someone with a dubious agenda force these guys out of business?
There are far more intrusive, ugly signs, names, businesses on many a street in Edinburgh. Not this one.

It's hardly an eyesore. It's beautifully decorated, bright and colourful. Plan to eat here next time i'm in the capital

As i work for a major supplier of food and wine for this premises an many others in this area i feel it is only fair they be allowed to advertise to attract trade, ok maybe use lower watt bulbs to dim it down but no need when there are brighter around dull area! This could also affect other jobs! Eg mine! Good luck to a great bunch of guys! Davey cqs

This is unfair. The objection is nonsense. And this is the nicest friendliest place.

Absolutely despicable behaviour from that neighbour. Hope it all works out and Pomegranate doesn't have to change!

It is ridiculous that the restaurant is forced to remove the Signs just because it is in Arabic.

If you live in a city it is inevitable that businesses are already established in the streets. Why complain? Either move or don't but a city centre property.

What a rediculous thought that this restaurant was an eyesore, its got a unique frontage that fits in very well with what it offers. Its also a lovely place to eat, very reasonably priced for city centre location and the staff are more than friendly. Some folks really should spend their time and effort affecting something that really blights the streets of Edinburgh...rubbish, chewing gum on pavement, pot holes, etc.

I find this situation deplorable. I have google image searched pictures of ferris restaurant and pictures of pomegranate. If there were no complaints about ferris, there should be no complaints about pomegranate. The only difference as far as I can see is the colour scheme. Leads me to believe that something more sinister underlies this complaint.
