Really disgusting behaviour. I'm of the opinion that Pomegranate has some of the loveliest signage and decor of any restaurant in Edinburgh. Pomegranate's prominent position, modern ambience and the quality of their food is a breath of fresh air in the area and I can't help but feel the complaints are racially motivated.
Hope you don't have to change.

Edinburgh Council are bringing a whole lot of trouble to their door by upholding this RACIST complaint!! I hope they see sense and withdraw their support for this action!! Shame on you City of Edinburgh Council!!

This is a fantastic place which has been unfairly targeted due to bigoted, racially motivated complaint. It will be outrageous if the council choose to make an example of this family friendly restaurant over the other establishments in the area. It traded for many years with similar sinage etc as an Italian, is purely ignorant stupidity which has led to this attack.

Not sure what is offensive about the signage?
Have to say these are two of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh

Ashamed and baffled the council are supporting what appears to best a petty campaign and at worst racist harassment

Really odd. A popular venue providing good food for the community. It's not as if it is a noisy bar or anything!

Ridiculous complaints which should not be allowed to ruin a fantastic restaurant which offers delicious food served by polite and efficient friendly staff

What about all the other restaurants, bars, clubs in the area? How on earth did the council agree with the complainant? You should question the council on why they are not asking the Playhouse and Omni Centre to turn off their lights....

I Love this restaurant, and the staff are so friendly. What is happening to them is unacceptable.

It's a disgrace and needs to be resolved immediately. I work along at Twelve Picardy Place, where we have heard nothing but good things from guests who have been along to Pomegranate.

no complaints to the previous premises, but on a change of hands there's a sudden surge of complaints, quite clear racial discrimination implications there.
any fixtures and fittings on a premises, when purchased and when these have been attached to the premises for a long duration, should, surely be classed as normal operating procedure for tat premises? as an immediate counter claim, an application for planning could be made, and counter claims for harassment and racial discrimination could be brought against the local neighbor, if events of harassment have been documented? try requesting regular customers make "testimonial statements"? just a little friendly thoughts, good luck!

to those expressing confusion the the councils actions, they must, by law, investigate and action any complaints made by domestic houseing occupants in any area of trading (i.e. a house near a shop), but the local council MUST take in to account the fronts and external fixtures and fittings of other similar local premises, unless the accused shop is seen as offensive to a specific or general populace group... it seems like unfair and undue force is being brought against this shop and no others...

All I can say is pomegranate and hanams are the best restaurants I have been to, and Jamal is one of the loveliest people I have met. I don't understand how someone can be so horrible and in my eyes, racist. Jamal, keep doing what you do best, and that is fantastic food, great restaurants and great service. You are the best xx

Pomegranate is a lovely restaurant with great food and staff.
When it opened, I commented how lovely it was and what a great addition it was to Leith.
It is in no way an eyesore and has brightened up the space that used to be Ferris.
Please keep the signage bright and beautiful!
