Delighted to sign this petition. It's important to our history as a nation and also our heritage as Irish people, and more importantly for the poor Irish souls that it affected then and now

I was told and knew at a very early age that the it was a form of starvation inflicted on our people.

I have never considered the so-called "famine" to be such. It was starvation on a grand scale and quite deliberate in using it as a means of ethnic cleansing!

I am one who wants the real truth -- not the "official" claims -- to be found and publicized about groups of people who have been marginalized and downtrodden. People deserve to know the truth about their ancestors, not possible lies told to them by their oppressors.

Because I believe Ireland was taken advantage of and that the people who perished deserve justice. This is the only form of justice that is available to them at this time.

I believe that the crown and government of England should be held accountable for all atrocities committed by them against indigenous peoples across the globe

Isigned this because this is a sad part of our history and heritage that needs public acknowledgement.

This is of considerable interest to me. My great - great grandfather came to the U. S. in 1850 due to the situation in Ireland. He knew he had no future there.

Jerry McCauley. Irish and proud of it.

I have always believed this was genocide. The failure of one crop is not a famine. There was loads of food just not for the poor Irish tenants

Because it's important that History is retold correctly. That, and I basically can't stand the British and still wish they would get out of Ireland.

Because it was genocide as ship loads of food was sent to the UK while the irish died or left these shores in coffin ships

I signed this petition so as the truth can be told. This was genocide by England on the people of Ireland.

Because it is common knowledge that grain was being produced it Ireland at that time and tenants had to sell it to pay their landlords rent while they were left to starve there was no excuse for what was let happen to the Irish of that time

The genocide in Ireland has never been recognised for what it was. The holocaust you hear about all the time.

I am of Irish descent and I'd like the truth to be told about England's attitude toward the Irish people in the 1850's, most prominently displayed by the genocidal Charles Trevelyan.

For years we have listened to revisionists and Unioniists claim there was no 'famine' but as we all know the British were guilty of one of the biggest crimes against the Irish and it's right it's referred to as An Gorta Mór
