Help Make It More Affordable to Study Health Supplements

The Goal: To petition the authorities to make it much more affordable for dietary and health nutritional supplement companies to research and analyze potential medicinal properties found in supplements and various foods.  

The Concern: In 2015, a guidance document was released by the government in response to worries that a lack of research is available to support the efficacy of nutritional supplements to be used as a means or medicine to treat any physical ailment. The primary problem isn't their findings, but the fact that anyone who wants to study supplements for the treatment of health issues is now required to pay $2.3 million dollars just start the research process.  

Moreover, if the research proves successful, the nutritional supplement will then be turned into a drug by the FDA and will have to go through the acceptance procedure. Unfortunately, this process usually costs billions of dollars making it next to impossible to patent any nutritional supplement due to the fact very people few can actually afford to initiate the research process.  

Many consumers are concerned that natural natural health options may not be available to consumers or even doctors, if it continues to stick.  

The Proposed Solution: If people who choose to take dietary supplements come together and put intense pressure on Congress to show them how important this research is to consumers; we may be able to slow down or change the process.
