ICF Education

The Cape Town Global Call for ICF in Curricula

Our healthy future can only happen within a world of universal access to health care.

The undersigned ICF Experts and users coming from 46 countries to participate at the 2nd International Symposium on ICF Education in Cape Town, South Africa launch the following call for action to improve education of professionals in the health, social and education sectors.

We urge

officials, governments, professional associations and institutions of higher education to revise and update the current curricula to include training and education on Functioning, Disability and Health by teaching the principles and the practical use of the WHO ICF Classification (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) and its related instruments.

This knowledge is essential to improve participation of all people through Interprofessional Collaborative Practice based on the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of health to improve universal access to health care.
