KEEP THE PUNK SHOW ON BBC RADIO 1

This petition was created because we believe that it is ludicrous that in a specialist line up full of Electronic/Dance DJ's, that BBC Radio 1 is getting rid of Punk Rock Show DJ Mike Davies, effectively leaving Radio 1 without a Punk Show, from September 1st

Our reasons for wanting the Punk show to stay on BBC Radio 1:

The Punk show is the only mainstream radio show that allows DIY/Underground bands to get the exposure they need and deserve.

The Punk Show is also the only show where listeners can request any Punk track they like and get it played on mainstream radio, which creates a real sense of community & listener interaction as well as giving the people a say on what they want to hear.

It is the only mainstream outlet for obscure Punk bands such as: The Casualties, Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man, The Smoking Hearts, Mixtapes, Muncie Girls and many more.

It is a great addition to the diversity of Radio 1's daytime/specialist music selections.

The bands that perform at Maida Vale make it unique to BBC Radio 1 and adds to the unbeatable selection of live music on Radio 1

What we want to be done:

Either let Mike Davies keep his job or use another DJ to do the Punk show with all the same features as the show now, and get rid of one of the dance DJ's and extend the rest by 30 minutes to 1 hour to retain the amount of dance music and to afford to keep the Punk Show
