KEEP THE TRADITION OF SALMON NETTING ON THE TAMAR TAVY

i/we the undersigned object to the enviroment agencies (EA) proposed plan to stop the last 4 remaining lisensed salmon netsmen on the tamar and tavy estuaries. The numbers of lisences have already been reduced down from 25 in the last 10 years and now the EA intends to stop the netsmen from passing their licences to future , Generation bringing to an end tradition for over 150 years

The EA claims the reason for this action is current poor fish stocks which the netsmen dispute citing the real reason as providing a greater fish stock for riparian owners.

The technique of netting salmon on the tamar and tavy has remained unchanged since the 19th century (as seen on the BBC Program series Edwardian Farm ) , when it provided a livelihood in more recent times a supplement to moddest earnings.
