Petition for City of Ekurhuleni to enforce the bylaws regulating the management of Creches, Panelbeaters, Boarding Houses and Restaurants and Taverns in Ward 15.

Businesses contribute to the economy of Kempton Park, and helps in alleviating unemployment in the town as well as in our Ward.   It is however very important that businesses are operating in a way that is safe for the business owner and those living and working in the area.

Over the last few years, more and more informal or unregulated businesses have popped up in our Ward, creating Health Risks, Traffic disruption and Nuisance such as Noise.

Often these companies ignore safety and noise regulations, and are acting with impunity.

The Democratic Alliance in Ward 15 is determined to hold the City of Ekurhuleni to account for the failure to consistently enforce the bylaws relating to these issues.

Businesses that are of particular concern to us in Ward 15 are:

Creches

Panelbeaters and Mechanics

Houses with multiple rooms rented out

Restaurants and fast-food outlets

Taverns

The experience of our community is that all requests and complaints lodged are falling on deaf ears, with these illegal businesses continuing to operate with impunity for years after they are reported and no action is taken against them

We therefore demand that the City of Ekurhuleni take action as per the Bylaws and give feedback to teh community of actions taken against these businesses be communicated back to our Ward Councillor - Councillor Gideon van Zyl for feedback to the community in his Public meetings.
