Petition for enpowerment classes in schools

It is a troubling fact that many young people feel worthless because they do not fit a certain ideal.Anyone with access to facebook, tumblr and a whole host of media networking sites can see that young people have an inadequate sense of self worth.

The current 'Citizenship' programme in schools is not working. To truly value others, you must value yourself.

So we are hereby proposing classes teaching self worth and enpowerment to children at key stage 3 and above on a weekly basis.

These classes topics would ideally include:

* Self hatred: why it exists, how to overcome it and learn to accept our flaws.

*Self worth: helping children to understand that no matter what their social standing is, what race or religion they are , their sexuality and however they look, they ARE worthy of whatever it is in life they seek. Be it moving on to higher education or getting that saturday job, we need to encourage children to see that achievement comes from the interior. not exterior.

*Confidence: Helping children to embrace who they are without others putting them down. Clases would ideally involve discussions on self image, children painting and taking photographic self portraits to allow them to fully express how they see themselves in relation to who they actually are.

We are asking you to sign this petition so children can grow up with the belief that we are all worthy.

When this petition gets 1,000 signatures it will be presented to parliament, so please pass the message on.

Thank you for taking time to read and sign this.
