At any stage, following the grant of a premises licence, a responsible authority (Police, Environmental Health etc.) or any other person (a resident) may formally apply to the licensing authority to review the licence because of a matter arising at the premises in connection with any of the four licensing objectives.

  • preventing crime and disorder
  • securing public safety
  • preventing public nuisance
  • protecting children from harm.

The Licensing Authority has been working closely with the Police and the Punch Taverns in respect of the current investigation and with regard to the previous issues at the premises relating to crime and disorder.  The Licensing Authority have confirm that for the foreseeable future the premises will close at 1.00 am in line with other licensed premises in the vicinity.  As a community do we see this as a sufficient change to make our community safer?

The venue,  The Ivory Urmston, has been reported for breaching alcohol advertising regulations offering "free alcoholic drinks to females".  These drink promotions are encouraging activity or offer that which encourages customers to drink in a way that could cause a significant risk of breaching one or more of the four licensing objectives (listed above).  These groups may then become more vulnerable to crime or be more likely to cause disorder.

With crime statistics on an increase since December 2013 within the locality of this premises with the highest rates within North Trafford for violence.

The Licensing Authority will also be working with the Police and Punch Taverns over the next few weeks to review the management of the premises.  It has been made clear to the brewery that if the issues at the premises cannot be resolved to the satisfaction of the Authority and the Police then the premises licence will be formally reviewed.

This petition seeks to request a formal review of the licenced premises with the sole focus to revoke the license and make our community a safer place to socialise.
