Queens County Bar Association Child Welfare Committee Petition

This Petition your signature to support the creation of a Child Welfare Committee with the Queens County Bar Association of New York.

**You do not have to be a member of the QCBA in order to sign this petition!**

The proposed Commmittee would suggest improvements, analyze policy and practice, and discuss the ethical and advocacy issues related to Child Welfare practice.  Such a comittee would be able to create reports, hold symposia and forums, and analyze issues affecting child welfare practicitioners, the Family Court, families, and service providers as well as complete other tasks.  The Child Welfare Committee would seek to rationally and empirically raise the level of practice in the Child Welfare arena by relying on use of experts, statistics, statutory and case-law analysis, and advocacy techniques in an unbiased manner in order to benefit the greatest amount of practitioners and families involved in child welfare proceedings.

While matters such as delinquency proceedings, custody, visitation, divorce, and other matters are addressed by the above committees, child welfare cases are distinquishable from the current QCBA committees. Although the Queens Bar Association currently has a Juvenile Justice Committee and a Family Law Committee, there is not a Child Welfare Committee to address Family Court Act proceedings under Article 10 or related proceedings.
If you believe a Child Welfare Committee in the Queens County Bar Association should be created, please sign your name below.
Thank you!
