Save Rockbridge Road

Gwinnett County Board of Transportation is planning on cutting down several trees along Rockbridge road between Kroger and Walmart to build a sidewalk on the same side as Walmart. National DOT studies show that removal of trees lining street corresponds to increased traffic speed by 10 mph. Among the trees being cut down are Pecan trees that have been there since way before I was born, I am now 32. These trees make that stretch worth driving. They are beautiful and are a great part of our city. We continue to deforest Lilburn and it's hurting more than our wildlife and environment. We aren't asking for no sidewalks, sidewalks are great but the pecan trees do not have to be cut down to make them and we are hoping for another way. Those trees can also be noted for protecting those homes on Rockbridge from being crashed into. Of course nobody wants any cars to run off this road, but the tearing down of these trees will bring more speed to Rockbridge, which we do not need. Please help us find a solution to include both sidewalks and beautiful scenary.
