Steps for Starting a Blog
Although the vast majority of blogs today focus on maximizing profits through marketing, it's still a good idea to prioritize content. In fact, quite a lot of successful blogs, at least financially, focus on providing their followers with high quality content. Profit for them is a side benefit that can help them continue creating good content.
For aspiring bloggers, making it big might sound like a very difficult thing to do especially since there are numerous existing blogs to compete with. However, there is always an untapped audience that will follow a blog when presented with content that will keep them entertained and hooked. Here are the basic steps to take note of when considering of starting a blog.
1. Platform, domain and hosting
These technical aspects of creating and maintaining a blog can be extremely daunting. For someone who just wants to put their thoughts, musings and logs of their personal journeys on the web, it may be enough to hold them back. However, these things can be learned in a few hours especially since there are tons of helpful videos on the internet that can walk an aspiring blogger through the process. One thing to remember during this period though, is that free blog sites generally aren't advisable because it has a disadvantage in terms of reaching a large audience.
2. Basic coding knowledge
When creating a blog, it's worth noting that it's not enough to know about writing and correct use of grammar. It does help to have a sold grasp on the preferred language, but knowing how to code also helps a lot. At least the fundamental functions that has to do with creating a blog.
3. Website aesthetics
Blog content doesn't just mean the text content of the site. It's not all about writing but also having the knack to create a good looking website that audiences will feel comfortable in. It also has something to do with features available on the blog such as ease of navigation to different links and content archives. Coincidentally, creating an aesthetically pleasing blog requires basic coding knowledge, which the previous step helps with immensely.
4. Content
After establishing the technical aspect of the blog and creating a unique and pleasing look, coming up with high quality content is the next thing to do. In fact, it's what bloggers should be doing most since tweaking the looks and functions of the blog won't be as frequent as blog updates. If blogs change their looks as often as their content updates, audiences will not be able to build a sense of loyalty to it. It's like visiting something unfamiliar while expecting something else to begin with. It's quite an unnerving feeling. This is why well-off companies rarely change their logos.
There are other specific things to know when creating blogs. But these nuances can be learned along the way. Naturally, plugins should be added later on as the blog becomes bigger. To know more blogging tips, find out more here.
