Stop destroying our indigenous green spaces.

As a city thats wants to be a clean, green, world class city, our parks teams cannot be allowed to wantonly destroy indigenous trees the way they have done in Shepherds Tree avenue in the last 7 days

The residents, (with the exception of the resident in number 10) and I are all extremely upset and very sad about the total disregard that was displayed by the team for our environment. We request that a rehabilitation plan be put into effect immediately and that the said plan be presented to residents by the end of September. The residents have also asked that a fine be issued to the residents in number 10 who have set the veld on fire on a number of occasions, in clear contravention of our bylaws. There are residents who are prepare to sign affidavits that they witnessed the veld being set on fire.

The REAL security risk posed to the residents comes from the invader Spanish reeds, which should have been the target of the demolition team. If they attack the Spanish reed with the gusto that they demolished our indigenous trees, it will be eradicated in no time at all.

In future, I, together with environmentally minded people in Ward 16, request to be part of the planning when any cutting down of trees is to be done in our ward and that the final decision by residents be respected

Please can our requests and concerns be addressed and a written reply be received within 10 working days of the date of this letter.
