Worcester mosque

Asalaam’ Walaikum, we the parents of today’s generation are who make up the wider Muslim society. We are working with those around us and we have decided to start this petition in order to ensure our children’s Islamic education is being met to the highest standard possible. In order to do this we needed to come forward as a community because after many efforts from ourselves to get in touch with the committee of the mosque, we have been ignored and nobody has taken what we feel is important in to any consideration.

Worcester Muslim welfare association had an employee; Hamaad Akmal, who was an excellent contribution towards our children’s education, we also felt he not only listened to us as parents but also took in what was important to our children and heard what they had to say, as this is something which the welfare associations lacks, they fail to take in account what is needed to help improve our children’s education.  Hamad was very intuitive as he was always coming up with new ideas for example; Hamaad was the first to initiate a parents comment sheet on parents evening which helped us as parents know that someone cared to listen to what we have to say, he also implemented what we said and furthermore this helped better our children and the level of service and teaching they were receiving from yourselves.  There are many more examples of which I’m sure you’re aware as to what Hamaad has successfully achieved whilst being an employee and this is something which we also benefitted from, however since Hamaad is longer with you guys, we feel rather let down as to how you would allow such an excellent individual to part from the welfare association.

Hamaad is a trustworthy person, someone who all parents felt they could approach for any guidance or trouble, because he would respect others privacy and never failed to allow someone’s name to come out if they had wanted it to stay anonymous, he really respected our wishes and concerns.

Hamaad Akmal’s achievements:

·  Award ceremonies – this encouraged our children to push themselves in order to achieve more.

·  Mawlid programme – this allowed us as a Muslim community to come together and also see what our children were getting up to at mosque and a first-hand experience for parents to see what they were learning in regards to Islam.

·  Eid parties- this allowed mosque to be fun for children, reviving a Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon them).

·  Bullying- this was a very important topic and Hamaad was the only individual who had a zero tolerance attitude towards this and really helped us as parents feel that, the mosque can be a safe and fun place for all children. Because previously we had to complain many times before any action was taken and thus this impacted negatively on our children.

·  Attendance- Hamaad came up with attendance reports on parents evening as this allowed parents to also crack down on attendance and see how vital Islamic education is for their children.

Our one and only demand is for you to reinstate him to his original postion so we can all reap the benefits of having him as part of the welfare association. We are well aware hamaad akmal left on his own accord however it was due to differnces between yourselves and him, for the sake of better islamic education we demand you to reinstate hamaad Akmal and there on we can all move on.

Overall we hope you take in to account everything that has been mentioned in this letter, because we demand action to be taken , because as Muslims I’m sure you’re aware that as parents we have a duty to our children to educate them but you also have a duty towards them to give them the best education possible.
