Allow the Use Semiautomatic Rifles for Hunting in Pennsylvania Woods

The Goal. To convince Pennsylvania’s gaming commission to lift its ban on the use of semiautomatic rifles for big game hunting.

The Problem. There are only two holdout states when it comes to allowing the use of semiautomatic rifles for big game hunting in America, and one of them is Pennsylvania. A small fraction of the state’s hunting population somehow persuaded the commission to enforce a ban on semiautomatic rifles after fears of bullets flying around in the open wilderness spread. But according to figures gathered by the commission’s fact-finding team, no higher incidences of hunting-related accidents have occurred in states where the use of semiautomatic rifles for game hunting is permitted.

The Solution. Clearly, there is no correlation to the use of semiautomatic rifles and any perceived risk of causing a higher incidence of hunting-related accidents. As a matter of fact, these rifles are safer than the shotguns Pennsylvania hunters use because of their low recoil. Semiautomatic rifles also produce cleaner and more humane kills, so that no wounded animal runs off and escapes into the woods to die in waste.

Fortunately, the state’s gaming commission has also expressed its willingness to review its policies if more interest in hunting with semiautomatic rifles, like the ones available at Target Tamers, is shown. With your help, we can let the gaming commission realize that a small group does not and cannot speak for the entire game hunting community. Help us prove that using semiautomatic rifles for game hunting isn’t as bad as they thought it would be. Sign this petition today.
