Cash delay for cargo in limbo
Monday 16 May, 2011
A forwarding company in the Philippines has confirmed it is awaiting payment from a UAE shipping company which has failed to deliver hundreds of packages from frustrated residents. Gilbert Malvar, general manager of Malvar, said the firm had been in contact with Al Ain-based Xpress Link, which is at the centre of a consumer rights investigation, over missed payments but had yet to receive any cash.

More than 50 UAE residents have been waiting for up to six months for packages to reach their destination in the Philippines.

One of those whose package has gone missing is Abram Habek, who said he had tried to file a case against the firm at Al Qusais Police Station after his maid’s Christmas gifts for her six children were never delivered.

Xpress Link refused to comment on where the cargo is and why it has not been delivered but admitted it had been delayed.
