Let's start by explaining these characters as their designers designed them.

THUNDERCRACKER: One of three members of an elite airborne squadron of Decepticons, known as Seekers, that transform into F-15 Eagle fighter jets. Thundercracker is able to create SONIC BOOMS in robot and substantially more powerful blasts in jet mode that have been described as sounding like "cracks of thunder."

ACID STORM: One of three members of an obscure group of Decepticon flyers called Rainmakers that have the ability to manipulate localized atmospheric conditions to create storms of ACID RAIN.

BRAWL: One of five elite Decepticon soldiers known as Combaticons that specialize in combat and warfare tactics. Brawl as an individual is a ruthless soldier with a hair-trigger temper and possesses no sense of stealth or finesse.

BLACKOUT: This Decepticon has been depicted on numerous occassions using an EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) weapon that causes the shutdown of all electrical systems within the blast radius, ie. Michaels Bay's adaptation of the Decepticon.

BLITZWING: This Decepticon's name derives from the German term "blitzkrieg"(meaning "Lightning War"). Motivation for this comes from his status as a triple changer (a transformer with two vehicle modes rather than one) where he can rapidly change from robot to tank to fighter jet and back again. His name also reflects his personality in that he is an abrasive, upfront Decepticon who doen't beat around the bush.
PS. Blitzkrieg tactics are not exclusively confined in history to Nazi Germany. The method consists of rapid bombardment and speedy assaults from both tanks and aircraft. American forces actually used blitzkrieg tactics during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

CLIFFJUMPER: This Autobot stands out as an eager, daring warrior that far exceeds his smaller stature. Possessing a "let-me-at-'em" attitude, he is often overly-anxious to charge into battle, even if the odds are stacked against him. His name reflects his impatience and hasty nature that tends to get him in trouble, causing him to LEAP before he LOOKS.

INFERNO: Built for the purpose of search and rescue, this Autobot is a rugged warrior that transforms into a fire truck and is capable of withstanding blistering temperatures that can exceed 8000 degrees Celsius. While he prefers the heat of battle against the Decepticons, his function as search and rescue remains his number one task.

KNOCKOUT: Serving as both warrior and the Decepticon's medical officer, this transformer tends to over-emphasize the value of appearances, getting easily agitated at the slightest scratch on his automotive finish. As well as his own design, he tends to get distracted by the designs of others almost to the point of obsession. His weapon of choice is an energon prod that shocks the victim to the point to where the inability to fight back, let alone stay conscious, is nothing short of inevitable, temporarily KNOCKING his opponents OUT of action.

ROADBLOCK: This slodier was given his name due to his tall, broad-shouldered stature. He is the biggest and strongest member of GI Joe. His almost inhuman strength allows him to carry a Browning M2 .50 caliber heavy machine gun (weighing as much as 134 lbs) as a personal weapon, a weapon normally utilized by a three to four man team to transport and operate effectively.

You have simply over analyzed these characters based solely on superficial appearances, not even bothering to look beyond the name. Ever heard the old saying "don't judge a book by its cover"?
