Network Systems for Modern Business Models

A couple of decades ago, getting into business ventures was an immense struggle. In the recent years, however, anyone who has an innovative idea for a product or service can capitalize on it and build a business from the ground up. Granting of course, they can find the capital to make it happen. The prevalence of start-up businesses is a testament to the entrepreneurial nature of the modern generation. This is made possible by the rapid advancement in technology. With it, numerous opportunities are still waiting to be discovered. But this isn't the only thing that technology has contributed in shaking the foundations of conventional business models. An important part of business communications is the right network system. And concurrently, the reign of MPLS network as the primary option for businesses in handling their branches is threatened.

MPLS has long since been considered as a great way to manage branches located in several geographical areas. The premise of MPLS, or Multiprotocol Label Switching, is that all branches must go through a data center before accessing the Internet. This allows businesses to better manage software that their branches are using as well as the prioritization of data. However, with digital trends pointing to a strong preference on cloud-based services, MPLS is losing its appeal. Since branches have to go through a data center, the latency in sending and receiving data over a cloud server hinders smooth operation. Businesses who have committed in investing on MPLS systems are now caught in a dilemma. They have to consider whether switching over to new systems and cutting MPLS losses is the best way to proceed, or simply wait it out in case another revolutionary network system comes into play.

The appeal of cloud based services is unquestionably going to be the future of communications and computer applications. The fact that people are always on their mobile phones constantly connected to the Internet proves that it will only take a short amount of time before everyone embraces cloud services. Even some games, although can be played entirely offline, are brazen enough to demand users to stay connected to the Internet.

The biggest contender for network systems is SD-WAN. Software Defined Wide Area Network. It lets businesses enable branches to access the Internet directly without sacrificing control and data management. Businesses that understand the importance of adapting to technology are starting to shift over. Some are doing so gradually through hybrid network systems.

On the other hand, small businesses and start-ups don't have to trouble themselves over the contest between MPLS and SD-WAN. These two are ideal for large corporate businesses, but may not be the best option for those who are still starting out. In fact, businesses with just a few bases of operations can go for leased lines. Leased lines provide unimpeded bandwidth because the line is dedicated to the client who leased it. To know more, it's better to book a meeting with communications experts to further understand and appreciate the benefits of using a leased line. Naturally, when the start-up strikes gold, it may be time to shift to the big guns offered by SD-WAN and IPVPN.
