Urgent Request for Clarity and Resolution Regarding Delayed Stipends for March and April 2024
We, the interns of SAGDA, funded by TETA, are writing toexpress our deep concern and distress over the delayed stipendpayments for the period of March 2024. It has come to ourattention that despite assurances from SAGDA that the stipends would be processed by Monday, 8th of April 2024, we find ourselves without any further communication or resolution. Thisdelay has now extended to 4 weeks, causing significant financial strain and uncertainty among us.
The lack of transparent communication regarding the cause of this delay and the timeline for resolution has left us in a precarious position. Many of us, having relocated to Gauteng from other provinces in pursuit of this internship opportunity, now face the daunting challenges of securing basic necessities such as food and accommodation. The threat of eviction loomslarge for some, as our financial resources dwindle with each passing day without our stipends.
We understand the complexities and challenges that may arise in the administration of stipend payments. However, we imploreyou to consider the human aspect of this situation. We are notjust interns; we are individuals with responsibilities, aspirations, and families who depend on us. The emotional and financial stress of this delay is not something we should have to bear in silence.
Therefore, we respectfully request the following:
We appeal to your sense of empathyand responsibility, urging you toaddress this matter with the
urgency and seriousness it deserves. Let us work together tofind a swift and compassionate resolution to this issue, reflecting the values and integrity of our organizations.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward toyour prompt response and resolution.
Sincerely,
Interns at SAGDA (Funded by TETA)
