WE MUST SAVE THE POLYNESIAN MARINE TORTOISES

The government of French Polynésia wants to reintroduce the hunting of marine tortoises ; Five species being totally protected by a french law passed the 13 th of july 1990 in french Polynesia.
The government defends its redressing of this law - claiming the hunt will serve nutritional purposes.

The new electoral law, which will be voted on early in 2011 will include all five species that are indigenous to french polynesia. Amongst these five, one, the green tortoise, is in imminent danger of extinction. Two others, the trotoishelle and the leather back (luth) are also in grave danger of extinction.
