NO one has the right to impose restrictions on my property without due consultation. Especially a 2 bit organisation such as Saanich district council. They act to serve the citizens they represent not impose like some third world strutting dictator.

The creation of two classes of property ownership with no recourse for the home owner on the decisions made by Saanich is blatantly unfair and morally wrong. I feel that this bylaw must be cancelled or at the very least rewritten to have the properties assessed by a non partisan party paid for by Saanich and for owners to be fairly compensated in the event that said property is in fact determined to have a sensitive ecosystem. Many of the properties involved have been owned for over 50 years and exist because of the the efforts of the owners. They deserve fair compensation for preserving these areas during the years when Saanich was permitting development with no thought whatsoever to the loss of green space.

Because it does not meet the goals it set oput...and it negatively affects my property values without compensation or warning, limits my use of my property that is my retirement stash. Goofy....while right adjoining my home, Mt. tolmie park grows blackberries and English Ivy, is infested with non native rabbits, grey squirrels, and full of deer....which did not exist 12 years ago. Why should I be held to a higher standard of environmental care than either the municipality or the province?

More open dialogue between Saanich and affected property owners is essential. No property value can be adversely impacted as a result of the EDPA.

Part of my property appears to be EDPA'd.

Nov. 4/2015: Sadly the Saanich municipality are hypocrits. On one hand they dictate "enviromental controls and restictions on what you can and cannot do on YOUR property" yet on the other hand they brutally destroy the envviroment by the manner in which they conduct their business on a daily basis.

My company has won 2 enviromental awards, one for Saanich and one for the CRD. I understand what enviromental policies are about and the EDPA is nothing short of a hypocrital dictatorship action. It needs to be completely removed. Whoever wrote it must be realted to Joseph Stalin.

I am incensed by the lack of meaningful information this by-law was based on. As an ecologist, I know that out-of-date aerial maps are not the basis for accurate biological decision making. I also resent the lack of communication before this was passed. Additionally there has been absolutely no oversight of these areas. Parks filled with weeds and garbage and transgressed by adjacent yards are not biologically sensitive areas. It is too late for that.

I am not fully informed about the bylaw amendment.

Owners should have the rights to maintain their property the way they like. The municipal government should help but not to dictate or restrict the owners rights.

Because I am an owner of a property that is effected by this bylaw.
Because Saanich municipality is not working in the best interests of Saanich taxpayers .

This by-law devalues our property and restricts the use of our property. It does not effectively address the environmental concerns of the citizens of Saanich.

Based on the ARROGANT and DISRESPECTFUL way in which Saanich has employed in formulating and implementing the EDPA, this petitition is required.

Because effective environmental policies should be popular and should not penalize individuals without recourse to appeal.

What part of private land do they not understand. We need to remember the people on council who voted for this and make sure they are not there after the next election.

There may be some need to assure that the long term beauty of our community is preserved.
The existing bylaw, however, is overkill, it was enacted without proper public input and
must be repealed to allow a new process to involve all stake holders. We must insist our elected
leaders represent all tax payers.

Because I think the bylaw is excessive.

I am disgusted with what Saanich council has done to myself and a select group of other home owners to invade our properties with a controlling heavy hand with no notice or personal invitation for discussion.
Just not good enough council and staff!!
