#351 Why?????

I travel about 30 miles just to come here. This is a great place and its loss will be invaluable to the local community and beyond. WBC need to think about this decision very carefully. I cannot be the only person who comes here from a distance. Whilst here I also use other retail outlets in the the WBC area and so do other people. It will be a very foolish decision to see this fantastic and much needed business close down.

Having said all the above something doesnt add up here. the business has been around for a long time now with the full knowledge of WBC. Why enforce this notice now? Is something else going on that WBC are holding back on?

This is an excellent place to take small children to play in a safe environment and to see a variety of domestic and farm animals at close quarters. It provides an affordable venue for parents, grandparents and carers to enable children to socialise and learn to share toys and equipment. The bouncy 'castle' allows them to experience the fun of exercising with other children and is not an item to be found in most homes! The farm itself blends well with the environment and the animals are well cared for, giving the opportunity for children to see newly born lambs and piglets etc locally. The big advantage of combining the farm with a plant centre and shop is that whilst one carer is supervising the children playing, the other can shop which makes it a pleasanter experience for everyone.

Because we need a different type of garden centre not only
ones where children play - nice garden centre for the elderly.
we are well looked after in Hare hatch sheep lands.

WBC, like many of the decisions you've been making over the past number of years I struggle to see the rationale here. Thankfully its election time on Thursday, maybe common sense will prevail in the not to distant future?

I agree with the activities and continued business plan proposed by Hare Hatch Sheeplands .

This decision runs directly against the interests of the local community. Hare Hatch Sheeplands is far more than a garden centre.  By virtue of the way in which the management have embraced good causes it has become an integral part of the local community and a social hub in a time when cut backs mean that we need socially responsible businesses like this more and more.....Shame on the faceless bureaucrats in Wokingham council

Shame on Wokingham when the Campaign to Protect Rural England website shows that Wokingham has plans for 1,200 buildings including retail on Greenfield Land. Yet they say that Hare Hatch Sheeplands that have improved a derelict eyesore into a Community hub employing local people and giving enjoyment to so many should close because of what they have done.

I want this unique and special center to continue. If it is forced to close it will be a great loss to the community.

Because I think it's terrible that anyone could do this to a community and a community business and you all go on about people claiming well your gonna free another 100 people to do just that when a very nice local business could keep them all employed I worked here and i have to say it's the nicest and best place I've ever worked

I believe WBC are applying the letter of the law and not the principle. They are not being consistent in their approach compared to other local garden centres.

The stated reason, protection of green belt, is ridiculous. This is a small pocket on the corner of two roads, opposite one garden centre over the A4 and a farm shop on the other side of London Road. There are industrial units behind. This land was never a public amenity, which is the supposed purpose of Green Belt. The government policy of zero development on land designated 50 or more years ago is simply not keeping up with the current state of the land or people's desires for the use of the land.
