#427 Right to use sign language in educational programmes.

I think hearing people need to learn sign language. School is a great place to learn it, and the deaf child has the right to have an aide who can fluently interpret to them. Learn to sign so you can communicate with deaf people. They are no different than you and I.

#441 Deaf Education in Sign Language

2010-09-30 14:29

In Education, the use and teaching of zambia sign language(ZSL)within a bilingual(ZSL/English)environment is essential for some deaf education children and adult. The early acquisition of language is vital to the learning process and for some deaf children Zambia Sign Language will be more accessible than spoke languages. The importance of sign languageas the medium of communication among deaf... should be recognised and provision made to ensure that all deaf persons have equality of opportunity access to education in their national guester of spread sign language. Consideration should be given to the use a guester spread of words sign language in the education of deaf children,in their families and communities.sign language interpretation services should also be provided to facilitate the communication between deaf persons and other. Educational provision for deaf children varies greatly between education authorities, with some not offering bilingual programmes and very few school other provinces of zambia or resources centre bases for deaf children offering any formal teaching of Zambia Sign Language.A lack of access to ZSL learning can adversely affect the language development of some deaf children and so. Parents of deaf children also receive greatly varying amounts information and training in Zambia Sign Language(ZSL),depending on the area they live in. In some local authorities, parents are offered courses in ZSL,and bilingual pre-school programmes are available to give very importance of deaf children the early start they need. However, this level of support remains the exception rather than the rule. Many parents are denied the choice of a bilingual method of education for their deaf children.

#448 Sign Language is essential for deaf people

2010-09-30 15:41

If you come across any deaf child studying in an institute with Oral education, you will find the deaf child communicate freely with sign language. Moreover, if a deaf child studying in an integrated school, a commonsense notion arises that this child find it difficult to understand the instructions of the regular teacher. It would be better to integrate the deaf child with hearing peers for social unity and brotherhood. I myself am a hard of hearing and I know I need sign language as an important part of communication to fill the gap of missing education in my life. I just overcome myself to struggle with the language through my experiments. In conclusion, it is very clear that sign language becomes essential for deaf people who are trying to grasp all forms of education in whatever aspects.
