Its not fair to us cheerleaders who worked so hard to even make this team a sport and the fact that we can not tumble is very uncalled for.

Cheerleading should be a sport and it's crazy that you can't stunt or tumble!

It would be a disservice to not allow these athletes to continue to build their stunting and tumbling skills. As one of the owners of New York Cheer, Long Islands largest cheerleading instructional school. I implore you, do not hinder the growth of these young ladies. Please contact me so we can discuss all of the benefits that cheerleading as a whole sport brings to each child, family and community.
I can be reached at Great Neck Rd elementary school Monday through Thursday from 830 to 330, and at New York Cheer All-Stars from 5 to 7pm Monday through Friday.
Cheers!

We are athletes, why wouldn't we compete the same as mens sports!

My child has been on a competitve cheerleading since she was 7 years old. So to say they can't stunt because they don't know how to or because its dangerous is ludicrous because where you see her there are 75plus more like her. Up and coming in Copiague school district alone.. It's sad to see other teams in other towns that get to expand and respect cheerleading as a sport and Copiague is stuck in the same rut we have been for the last 40+years. My family has been in this district for about that long, hopefully we can evolve from a cave man status. Welcome to 2014 and beyond superintendant!!!!

keep cheering copiague. some of my friends where cheerleaders back in hs. and to the superintendent someone should tape the cheerleading nationals for him and give it to him with the message this could be copiague on that stage.

Are the cheerleaders in Copiague good enough to be in competition? I would love to see this happen. It takes a lot of practice and hard work. But it should be treated like a sport with their grades at a certain level. Right on Copiague. Good Luck.
