This is a beautiful and historic building. There must be a more suitable place to put a supermarket without having to pull down such an iconic building which will be lost forever.

Disgrace, this building should not be demolished, how much more of Hornchurch needs to be ruined, I hear an international supermarket will appear nearby, what next.

The Bingo hall needs to stay in Hornchurch, it helps bring lots of people together and has a good community spirit. Please let us keep our bingo hall

So disappointing, this building is Art Deco built in the 1930's and still the hub of the local community after all these years. Havering Council please reconsider the effect this will have on our town.

The bingo hall is the most iconic building in Hornchurch, an essential piece of out heritage and history and every effort must be made to preserve it

I think this building has historic value and should be prevented from being demolished.

This is an iconic art deco building in the centre of Hornchurch providing a much needed social activity, particularly, but not solely, for older people. There is a new supermarket opening within 25 yards and Sainsburys within 50 yards plus 2 x £1 stores nearby, Hornchurch does not need another supermarket. Planning consent should not be given and the building should be listed by the Council. The public elect the Council and those Councillors approving this change should be ashamed and not voted back in. Listen to the citizens of Hornchurch.

Because it is madness to destroy one of the few historic buildings left in Hornchurch - all for the sake of corporate greed!

This is a part of Hornchurch's history and at least the exterior should be preserved even if it not feasible to retain the current usage.

The building is an attractive Art Deco build, has lots of history and I used to visit it when I was a child to see the latest films! I'd rather continue to see this building then an unattractive lidol. Obviously money is more important to lidol then Hornchurch's history!

I used to go here every Saturday morning when the building was a cinema. It would be a great shame to lose a piece of Hornchurch's history.

It is important that we preserve our historic buildings that are part of a community. It is abhorrent and shameful to build the characterless concrete structures that reside in Havering today.

I feel that tgere are more than enough supermarket in hornchurch , and it's very unfair on the new international one opening up . I also feel that the building should be listed as historic

Why is this building not listed or protected.
Luftwaffe failed now its retail incarnation is to devastate a heritage town centre.
Whwere are the ratepayers groups?

I have lived in Hornchurch for 33 years and have seen buildings being knocked down and flats go up its be coming flat city. This art deco building should be kept as a link to the past if we just keep knocking it all down there will be no past. we will be hemed in by high rises. sometimes it can't be all about profit.

I recently moved to the area and although I probably wouldn't use it as a bingo hall I think it would be a tragedy if it was bulldozed.

I love this place and the people in it.   Have only been going to the bingo for about 18 months but have never met such a lovely friendly bunch, with people of all ages mixing together.  Its a brilliant place and so unique.   Please let it stay open!

I am a resident of Hornchurch and only been to the Mecca Hornchurch twice where I found the older folk most helpful in showing me how the bingo rounds work. It is great to see them going there for their enjoyment and is a part of their Social life in a safe environment. We need to keep all historic buildings we can otherwise the History of Hornchurch will be lost.
Save an iconic building for future generations.

Why demolish a perfectly functional 30s building just for the sake of it. This building is part of Hornchurch. Demolition should not be allowed to go ahead.

My mum has always enjoyed bingo. We used to go together to the hall at lakeside and when that shut down we started to go to Hornchurch. More recently we have tried grays however this is also now gone. The staff at Hornchurch are excellent and it would be a shame for the many solo players that go there to lose out.
