The leasing and/or selling of sea-bordering land such as Diaz Strand, De Bakke, Souwesia, etc. deprives the residents of Mossel Bay of access to the sea. The same applies to less affluent visitors to the town during the holiday season. Most of these visitors have been camping in Mossel Bay for decades and thus fed substantial amounts into the municipality and business coffers. it is obvious that the residents of Mossel Bay and the less fortunate are thus definitely deprived of direct access to the sea, while a few rich people (mostly from up country) buy or lease the privilege to direct access to the sea - one of our country's most favoured natural commodities. The Mossel Bay municipality should not be allowed to do the same thing that has happened when the predominant visitors to Diaz Beach suddenly found themselves shut out of a beach that has been their haven for more than fifty years, especially during the festive season.

Im a middle class resident. Iv been living here for 13years. Before i used toe visit mosselbay every december to enjoy the beaches of mosselbay. We use to camp at diaz beach. Im coloured, im not rich. We love the beaches. We will go enjoy the sand with our kids, our family. Our kids will hopefully do the same oneday. Taking away these beaches will only provide for the rich. Those who are not rich...dont they matter?  The rich wants everything. They are selfish. They do not care about us. They think they are better then the rest. Well, you are not. The only diffrence is,you have money and you are well of. We all are human beings.

For too long Black people have been marginalised by the white minority in terms of the illegal Land distribution. It is furthermore sad that Black DA councillors is part and partial of this unscruppolis decisions.

I believe it was done without public participation and consultation. Nowhere have I seen any advertisement to the public concerning this. The proper procedures were not followed. Where is the attendance registers for the Participation process, "that might have taken place"...how was this decided and on what merit? Was this done to receive extra funds or what was the reason?

Why are they taking away the only beautiful beaches from the people who build up the beaches their whole life. It belongs to the fore fathers, grand fathers, parents and children. God created the beach for the human beings to look after it and enjoy family life. The big buildings and money won't bring happiness to the poorly.

My parents met on Diaz Strand. We went there every year. It breaks my heart that it has been changed into a playground for the priviledged I love Mosselbay

It was a family tradition to spend Christmas to New Year at Diaz Strand. We did that every year when I was a young boy. Then one year it suddenly stopped. We have never found any other place that provided the same sense of community and peaceful togetherness for Coloured people lthat we experienced at Diaz Strand.
