#2: -  I agree, there really needs to be an increase in back yard gardens, that's some of the best food anyone can have; and there's a certain pride that comes along with it

People need to stop buying the bad foods simply because their cheap! The world needs healthy food to be cheap food.

#6 Community Gardens

2013-05-23 12:36

I like the idea of backyard and community gardens to promote healthier eating, stronger work ethic and neighborly care. In some parts of the world, neighbors agree to grow particular foods and share them within the community. This allows for greater food yield and easier care. Further, it teaches basic agriculture and requires the efforts of all citizens. The work put into the gardens acts as the payment for the products. Working together fosters an environment of mutual concerns. Such environment tends to help children develop a healthy respect for labor and relationship. Finally, the food raised is organic and free of unhealthy pesticides, while also allowing for annual crop rotation which helps to maintain healthy soil.

#7 School Food and Curriculum

I think this is a great idea. Healthy options for students in the cafeteria will also help this agenda.  Having a way for students to create and maintain a garden will make them more apt to choose to eat the food coming out of it, or eat vegetables in general.  Allowing them to learn about the vitamins in food and how those vitamins affect the body would align with the health curriculum.

Take time away from TV, Video games, and Iphones and get outside and do something. Help your parents with yard work, take the dogs for a walk. Get up and move and stop eating fast food.

Thank you all so much for the signatures and the ideas are fantastic! And it's sadly so true that obese children do end up becoming obese adults and we need to stop it before it becomes a problem
