Having seen the outside of the restaurant in both daylight and the dark, eaten there(very good), and looked at the retrospective planning application, I don't understand the problem and would like to know on what grounds it was turned down.

Friendly staff, lovely food and, compared to a lot of local restaurants, very attractive exterior!

This noxious campaign is clearly racist. That in itself is bad enough, but its endorsement by lily-livered offialdom is outrageous.

The outside of this restaurant is beautiful and very tasteful, this is outrageous.

Can't believe some neighbours find the signage offensive. Is it the Arabic letters because they do not understand Arabic? Or is it an ignorance or arrogance against a different culture? . It has to be some cover up reason as the signage is minimal. The previous Italian restaurant had much bigger signage and the letters were large and all lite up. There must be photos to compare the two.

Some very ignorant & arrogant people, who have nothing better to do with their time than to complain. The signage is very discret and tasteful - the signage for other restaurants is far bigger and ""bolder"" in all the other restarants in the same street/area, the people who complain must have another motive, the local Edinburgh Council cannot surely be taking this complaint seriously.

Lovely restaurant and the signage is just like all the others around it so can't see the problem...

Love this restaurant, and think the exterior is very attractive - certainly more so than many other restaurants in the Leith Walk area. Would be saddened to see their trade damaged.

Definitely signing this petition... I can't understand how your restaurant front is offensive or an eyesore. I love the burst of colour that this has brought the corner! It certainly looks much better than the old front of Ferri's Italian that stood in place before this. Well done for fighting this out!

Gorgeous restaurant, great staff, lovely decor, not at all offensive in any way. in fact I think it has added to the regeneration of the area, along with khushi's and other new business. The food is amazing too. I will be going for dinner there in a couple of weeks and would be devastated if business was negatively affected by this ludicrous complaint.

Great restaurant - the décor brightens the neighbourhood

Pomegranate's lighting is subdued by comparison with some of it's close neighbours... and the food is great, served by some of the nicest people in Edinburgh

I can see no reasonable justification for the Council enforcing these measures. This area of the city abounds in visually 'intrusive' signage. The motive for targeting this establishment seems to be barely disguised racism. The council of Scotland's capital city should NOT be condoning racial harassment.

Unfamiliar with the establishment, never eaten here, yet have heard rave reviews from friends and punters in Edinburgh..... very surprised to hear that someone is complaining against what is a very innocuous restaurant front... im finding it hard to see what the complainers problem actually is?

This would be a real pity if it closed and it does sound as if it is racially motivated!!!

This seems ridiculously unfair to me! I have never been to Pomegranate but have heard wonderful things so will make sure I come along now to show my support.

I see nothing wrong with the front of the restaurant to complain about.

Perhaps a translation would allay the fears of the paranoid neighbours?
