It sounds like the key stumbling point is whether a person or organization can 'own' the affiliate. A key idea behind an invidividual owning it is that they are certified by CrossFit, they help ensure that the operation is run properly and safely for the benefit of all. As long as members are encouraged to go to their maximum potential safely, there are a phenomenal number of benefits - fitness in regards to strength, stamina, cardio etc (there are 10 benefits, it impacts every part of someone's fitness) - the community is incredible, unlike any other gym envirionment. People discover what they are capable of, create healthier versions of themselves. I know this because myself, my husband and my son all live it. Let them operate!

I think every college should have an affiliated Crossfit gym for the athletic dep. strength and conditioning, due to crossfits proven methods.

#9: Daniel Lugo - How About NO

Have you tried CrossFit? Apparently you only read the fad news about it. My husband is a great example of the success of CrossFit. He was told he was pre-diabetic a few years ago. He followed a low glycemic diet and joined a regular gym. Took off about 30 pounds and then wanted to get more built and scuplted, some more muscle. He didn't think the trainers at the gym where he was were prime candidates because they weren't examples of what he wanted his results to be. And I wasn't a fan of dishing out a couple of thousand dollars a month for who knows how long for a personal trainer. So online he went and we've found CrossFit has the perfect balance of costing a little more than a regular gym, because you basically have a personal trainer, but a much more complex and effective workout program. The average person is spending their life studying (if they are a student), or raising a family and/or running their business. To be an expert at what would help them fitness wise would be impossible, relying on experts is key. So CrossFit is a little more because that advanced level of expertise is necessary compared to a 'regular' gym.

The social and cognitive influences that Crossfit brings especially to students is amazing

Queen's should be thrilled that CrossFit is available at their school.
I am a CrossFit person who believes in the program, having been introduced to it by my son.
My son is a student at a college in Ontario and continues to CrossFit. I only wish that his school had a crossFit program so that he didn't have to pay off campus for this excellent program.

As an alumni, I find this DISGUSTING. The school is hiding behind red tape. Let the students do CrossFit. I will not donate to the school and tell all my alumni friends not to donate until you let CrossFit happen again. Think of the STUDENTS not the RED TAPE.

The ARC is making up a set of arbitrary rules to close down Crossfit. It's cowardly, pathetic, and is putting a sour taste in my mouth before my upcoming graduation.

It violates Crossfit Inc. policy? The university does not need to adapt to Crossfit Inc. policies, in the request to sign the petition you skim over that like it is a non-issue. Perhaps conforming with the University's policy will get you reinstated.

Good luck guys, it's sad to see such a great facility being threatened by bureaucracy.

Every box with the CrossFit mentality should be given the opportunity to change a community.

While Crossfit changed my health and fitness, the box I go to changed my life. Don't deprive these students from changing theirs!

CrossFit Tricolour is an excellent fitness program, and is something that young Canadians should be able to enjoy freely. Fitness is a vital part of a person's education, and so this program should be supported, unequivocally, by all educational institutions, especially those that are publicly funded.

Another example of organisations set up to assist students not actually helping them to achieve anything. Crossfit has been one of the most positive thing I've ever been involved in and could benefit many people at queens and the wider community. Stupid decision by sports and rec.
