#29 making money on our animals

2014-02-04 18:00

Does South africa have no rights? Do we need to befriend nature conservation in order to get permits like what is happening now? So you can have the power to choose who can keep reptiles, so there is more bribes and more underground reptile keeping. Give us all a break and work on trying to conserve South Africas wildlife for a change. I cant even see you guys being able to protect Rhinos that are almost extinct. Concentrate on bigger things than us kepping and loving and learning from our reptiles, mammals and aracnids.

Take away the feeders for my reptiles (crickets, roaches, etc) I will be forced to either release my tarantulas or endanger local crickets, roaches, etc by feeding them to my reptiles and tarantulas. I choose.option B. I will happily use local inverts as feeders.

To the pathetic govt. No law will stop us, your laws mean nothing, your incompetency has ensured we already live in a lawless society. Don't waste resources on this. You will fail and we the people will win. You cannot control us. You think you can, you people cant even run a country or fix a pothole. Just pathetic for words.

Why now after so many years do they want to ban all alien invertebrates? Its because they can't link Tax to it I'm sure. Leave the animals to people who know them. Don't be so selfish and take away this hobby. Much bigger fish to fry out there. So please leave the hobby as its a nice way for some people to relax and learn more about the animals in our world. I will sign this petition any day as to save the hobby. This hobby has created more jobs than the ANC could ever think of generating. And the fact that they can't take any money for Tax makes then angry. Hope these people let this great exotic hobby be.

Many spp due to be outlawed are in fact domesticated with no direct live relatives. Domesticated hedgehogs for eg are firstly a hybrid, secondly come in many colour variations and thirdly have been captive for around 2000 years in the middle east where they are bred for the food trade. This makes them far from "wild animals". Why are they not exempt from restrictions. I think more un-biased homework needs to be done before lists are set.

#37 another screwed up regulation

2014-02-04 20:10

You bureaucrats seem to have nothing better to do than screw with people. Get a life and do what you were elected to do. This seems like another ploy to create criminals to populate your prisons.
Go after real criminals...especially crooked anti-American politicians. Please read the Constitution and Bill of Rights you are sworn to defend. We are supposed to have rights in this country. I am just livid right now. You bunch of Y$#^$#@^%$#$....
I will protect my hobby with my Second Amendment Rights along with my family and property. I will not go quietly into the dark... Molon Labe

Why don't we just ban humans...

#41 petition

2014-02-04 21:15

Wow guys! This is really amazing to see all hobbyists standing together for what's right in life!! It's terrible to think about how many people might lose their jobs... how many petshops/stores might close down because of nothing to sell as everything is being banned... how many human lives will be affected?? Some of us have been doing research for years and know how to keep and look after these animals!! We go to the extremes to educate more people about endangered species and how we can save them for future generations to see... and this is what we get?? It's not fair and definitely not right! Keep spreading the word to everybody that will be affected by this matter! Together we can speak with one STRONG voice!! Regards Henk

makes it illegal hobby is very unwise, we are involved in this hobby very well understand our responsibility so as not to disrupt local ecosystems that exist in our living environment.

I personally strongly disagree that there is this prohibition, because these regulations do not seem to appreciate us as actors responsible hobby.

why this law should be applied?

I really love animals which come from your country, I also maintain it with a sense of love. i also sure the animal lovers in your country is very fond of animals originating in Africa. as we in Indonesia are very proud and excited when the animal that has a lot number of population in our country can be exported to other countries for the purpose of dissemination and preservation.

therefore, on the basis of the same hobbies that love for animals. we are asking for this legislation is not legalized. so we, who come from other countries can still maintain and loves exotic African animals. also to socialise to the next generation that animals which originate from Africa is beautiful and amazing animals.

please consider our voices,thanks

regards

This is nonsense. Many children keep silkworms, hamsters and plenty of these as pets and have done for many, many of years. Which I feel help them to learn about them and how to look after and protect them.
