The music scene has done wonders for the business's and morale of downtown Macon. It has sort of become a tradition and would be a shame if it became a mere memory. Music is life, if the gentleman doesn't like it, he can move. That's like moving to NY city and saying you won't the noise to stop or the streets dark

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

Macon was founded by live music!!!

What this gentleman is doing is ludacris!! Macon is known for it's music and talent. He should've thought about that before he moved downtown!!

I live by downtown and I work in downtown Macon. I love the music scene here because it brings life to the city and many clientele for local businesses in the area. It provides jobs for local musicians and it also gives me something to do on scheduled events or the weekends. Keep the music scene live in dt Macon.***** that fool!!!

Macon doesn't need to stand in the way of its own progress.

(Warner Robins , 2016-12-01)

#53

Our histories and families here are celebrated and rooted in music - Reddings, Allmans, Liz Reed Music Hall, etc - and bring us together. Jim Barta does not care for, appreciate, or understand our history or culture. Also, he is whale feces personified.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#54

Because Macon was put on the map because of it's strong musical roots, if you don't like hearing music, don't live downtown, it's a shame that one or two buzzkill scrooges get to swoop in and impose their will on our town.

(Macon, GA, 2016-12-01)

#55

I think music is a great way to not only bring the people of Macon out to enjoy their city but also bring in those from other locations. To be able to show off to them what great things Macon is made up of and what it can be inn the future.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#60

I am a musician and believe that people who move downtown should know that they will be right next to the most popular place in Macon and that there will be festivals, concerts, clubs, and paid musicians creating music and noise at night. Music is never heard from over a block away, but many places host bands on the same nights. Music has been a part of Macon since rock and roll was invented. In the 60's there were garage bands at every other house and guitar stores on every corner.

Macon needs music past 11pm. Let's spend time time fighting real crime not this

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#67

I'm signing because I have a love for music. I believe that there should be options. I've been there and I'd like to experience the atmosphere again soon and if they change the times, I'll never be able to share that.

(Syracuse, New york, 2016-12-01)

Music helps create a vibrant downtown where people want to live, work, shop and play.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

It is a commercial district. Athens, GA has a mixed use downtown and bars and restaurants can have music until much later.

Macon needs live music to support ongoing economic growth.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#88

I have enjoyed the recent revitalization of the downtown area and the local music plays a large part in generating new business.

(Warner Robins, Ga, 2016-12-01)

A thriving downtown has to have live music, especially in a place like Macon. Period. End of story.

Music is the heart and soul of Macon.

(Atlanta, 2016-12-01)

#98

I am an owner of a music venue opening soon in Warner Robins. While I certainly understand the concerns of residents in the area, I feel that it would be appropriate for the city to make sure the noise ordinances are clearly defined and a fair balance between keeping music venues open and keeping residents happy. Selective enforcement of ambiguous ordinances only hurts both sides.

While I am not a resident of Macon, I very strongly believe that a thriving music industry would be of enormous economic benefit to middle Georgia and that a rising tide lifts all ships.

(Warner Robins, 2016-12-01)

#99

I'm a music lover, a Macon lover, and a musician. Only makes sense.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#104

Macon Music scene is historical. it brings folks together and is frankly the only reason I got downtown for entertainment. Otherwise I'm going to warner robins.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#106

I'm signing because so many people have worked very hard to bring downtown Macon back to life, and this is another piece of that puzzle. It should go without saying that anyone who lives downtown can expect a nightlife scene, and that most certainly includes music at night.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#108

The music scene downtown has always been there and is important to keeping downtown alive and thriving

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#109

We need more music in the world. If you don't like hearing the music MOVE. You knew what was there when you moved in.

(Charleston, 2016-12-01)

#110

Cherry Street and the surrounding area is the heart of local entertainment in Macon, GA. Accommodations should be made for businesses supporting the local music scene. Extending of hours and less stringent enforcement seems appropriate.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#112

Anyone that has something against live music is no friend of mine!

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#113

Macon is Music. Don't move to downtown ANYWHERE unless you can handle a little noise. I lived in downtown Macon for many years and understood the sacrifices I made in the way of noise/late evenings. Get some earplugs, but don't take one of the most important aspects of downtown Macon away.

(Pembroke Pines, 2016-12-01)

#116

I agree that music is an important part of downtown Macon. I also work at a downtown restaurant that has live music and know that people thoroughly enjoy it.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#118

I'm signing because we talk so much about revamping Macon, and new town Macon, but then we turn around and enforce stuff that is killing downtown Macon. You wonder why people want to leave this town? Because it doesn't support itself.

(Macom, 2016-12-01)

#120

How can you rebuild a music city with no music?

(New York , 2016-12-01)

#122

I believe that it is important to support local musicians and artists. I have enjoyed discovering new musicians at local bars and restaurants in the past and would love to continue to do so.

(Snellville, 2016-12-01)

#124

Because if we're going to be a music town, there has to be music. All day every day.

The people need live music!

(Macon , 2016-12-01)

#133

This needs to happen if Macon is to continue her amazing musical legacy that started with
the Ocmulgee indigenous musicians and
includes the musical talents of poet Sidney
Lanier (flute), the Rev. Pearly Brown, Little
Richard, Johnny Jenkins, Jimi Hendrix, Otis
Redding, Lena Horne, James Brown, the
Allman Bros and all of the young musicians
who have been influenced by them who want to STAY here and create at HOME...We have lost too many to places who appreciate their creatives....We should be their first choice...❤️Mama d.

The Soul Lives in Macon and cannot survive with a "noise" ordinance hindering music and the celebration of local traditions.

I'm signing because Music is the soul of Macon, the soul of downtown! Keep playing!!

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#165

I feel that live music is an essential element to the downtown Macon atmosphere and stripping it of that would be a disservice to those who live/work/socialize in the area

(Warner Robins, 2016-12-01)

#166

I'm signing because I have seen downtown come to far to reverse course.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#167

This ordinance will do nothing but make it more difficult for local musicians to make a living in this town. Please, as a current working musician in Macon, I beg you to reconsider! :(

#171

Art is vital to any community growth.

I want music all day everyday!!!

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#176

Recent issues with noise complaints aimed towards the businesses in downtown. Complaints that could cause businesses to die and take money out of our local community.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#177

One can hardly call Macon a city of music and culture if the city won't let musical and cultural events take place downtown of all areas. Furthermore, if residents choose to live in a downtown area, they should do so with the knowledge that downtown areas tend to stay awake all night. It's ridiculous that this is even an issue.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#184

I love music

#191

I'm a musician.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#192

I'm a musician in a band from Albany that plays in downtown Macon on a frequent basis. Not only do we enjoy hanging out with fans and playing at venues such as Grant's, we make it a point to spend our hard earned money at local eateries and other shops in the downtown area. A sound ordinance such as this means fewer shows, fewer bands, fewer fans, and fewer dollars spent downtown. I imagine this is not what the people of Macon want for such a beautiful place. And as a frequent visitor, I would hate to see downtown suffer. I don't say this as just a fan and participant of the Macon music scene. I say this as a citizen of a city not unlike Macon in which the city stands in the way of any and all progress that can be made in its downtown area. Our downtown area is not as great as it can be, and a big part of that is our city's knee-jerk reactions to anything they don't understand or feel they don't directly benefit form.
In short, Macon is choking its downtown, and there is no excuse for such an unreasonable sound ordinance. I gladly sign this petition in support of my friends in the Macon music scene and the businesses that greatly benefit from the music scene.

(Albany, 2016-12-01)

Music is vital to our lives. We need to be able to provide opportunities for our local musicians to perform, which only enhances our community and provides income for their talent.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)
