It's a no brainier as far as I'm concerned, sunbeds do nothing but harm, firstly they scar your skin by burning it and then more than likely they will cause you to get cancer. Although it appeared an attempt was made to regulate I don't believe it has been in any way successful as I'm aware of salons allowing young teenagers to continue to use sun beds.

Too many young people use them uneducated of the long term effects on your skin. I used them twice when I was in my 20's however second time I could feel my insides feeling very strange and a blister appeared on my leg. So never again. Then 10 years later a family member died of melanoma.

We have the highest skin cancer stats in europe yet everywhere from hairdressers to gyms are still allowed to offer and profit from this cancer emitting practice with little or no regulation to the consumer.

I'm a medical scientist and my masters degree thesis was studying the BRAF gene and the effects of melanoma in the Irish population. Sun beds are a major contributing factor to the rise in melanoma rates in Ireland and a ban is a must. More education and sun smart programmes need to be given to our younger generations.
