Exemption from doing community services

The lack of community service opportunity and poor administration restrict these students access to full time work - which is unconstitutional

My wife is without a job having completed her pharmacy internship last year. She has bills to pay which unfortunately cannot be paid due to the fact that she has been 4th rounded.

I really want something to be done about this lack of post for CSP in the public sector ASAP. We prospective CSPs should not be sitting home jobless especially when there is a shortage of Pharmacists in the country....the SAPC and NDOH must fix this issue ASAP

I am personally affected and know of many others too who have been deprived the opportunity to progress and qualify.

I'm signing this petition as I am currently affected by this issue. I have not been placed for community service to date. It is already 2017, we do not know what is going on and if we will be placed even after numerous emails and phone calls. We have commitments and families to look after yet we do not have jobs. if the government cannot accommodate us then they should release us to practice as a pharmacist. I have not been given any of my choices yet people who have declined their choice in first round still got placed in second round, how is this a fair system? Due to technical faults our lives are being put on hold and it is hindering us from moving forward in life.

I am an intern who hasn't been placed yet

(Amanzimtoti, 2017-01-10)

#220

My daughter is affected by this mess

(Durban, 2017-01-10)

#230

I'm signing because this kind of delay is terrible and says a lot about the dire management skills of senior parties who are managing these young professionals and determining the course of their futures. what a disappointment

(Cape Town, 2017-01-10)

#232

I am awaiting placement. I had not received placement in any of the previous rounds.. hence I did NOT decline a post. I simply have not been placed. I feel the current system was not well thought out as there are applicants who declined posts from the first round and got placed in the successive round. Whereas some of us who were not placed in the first round were overlooked in the second round as well!!

(Durban, 2017-01-10)

#236

I'm an pharmacist intern (finished 2016) that wasn't placed for community service 2017.
I'm still waiting to hear from the government.

(Secunda, 2017-01-10)

#238

I agree fully with the petition. The government is also discriminating against white people in the workplace and forces skilled white workers to look for work overseas.

(port-elizabeth, 2017-01-10)

My sister still has not been placed and the DOH has made no effort to expedite the situation and get the interns placed. Some interns have bills to pay and do not have the luxury of returning to their parents homes and are being hamstrung because they cannot practice in their chosen profession as they have not completed their commserve which the government have enforced but are unable to supply these interns with suitable placements.

(Durban, 2017-01-10)

#242

I strongly feel that pharmacy profession as whole being neglected by the DOH and Young pharmacist are demotivated with negligence of those who can make some changes.

(Durban, 2017-01-10)

We all deserve a job

(Durban, 2017-01-10)

#263

Most of my friends/collegues who have completed internship are not placed and have financial commitment.Being unemployed because of not being placed for community service is unfair to them especially when they have worked hard to earn the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and completing internship.

(Johannesburg, 2017-01-10)

#273

I am signing because I am affected

(Polokwane, 2017-01-10)

#275

In support of colleagues struggling with placement..should starve and not pay bills why waiting for placement?

(Polokwane, 2017-01-10)

#286

I am a qualified pharmacist and the state facilities are only accepting bursary holders. It is unfair!!! It's as though we have no jobs.

(Durban, 2017-01-10)

#289

I was waiting 8 months before I could perform community service, while my colleague waited a whole year. And the fact that the foreigners are not placed is ridiculous. There are a lot of frustrated pharmacy professionals who simply feel that the doh and Sapc don't care about their interests.

(Cape town, 2017-01-10)

#293

I'm signing here because I'm a Bpharm graduate who has been unsuccessful in obtaining internship for two years in a row. I will never be a pharmacist at the rate I'm going.

(Port Elizabeth, 2017-01-10)

#300

This matter requires urgent attention

(Durban, 2017-01-11)

#304

Coudnt find place to do community service
If there are insufficient posts in the public service, then the only tenable option would be to remove the obligation for community service immediately, and to allow all completing interns to be registered without limitation and to practise in any setting.

(Johannesburg , 2017-01-11)

#309

I have been waiting for placement since September 2015. Moreover, I had gone through comserve already in my country of origin and had been fully registered and in practice as a pharmacist for over 18 years before relocating to South Africa.

(Johannesburg, 2017-01-11)

#311

This is affecting people who had studied so hard to do what theu love and that is to help the sick but now are forced to stay at home with no income after spending thousands on school fees

(Nelspruit, 2017-01-11)

#313

I still havent recieved commserve in 3 years and my whle life is a mess due to this. Some of us ard not fortunate enuf to hv sm1 take care of us anymore .Its honestly a life of a street kid . The disheartening part is i have a degree in my pocket. Save us please

(Johannesburg, 2017-01-11)

#314

We have many pharmacists without jobs and the department is doing nothing about it. Structures are not reviewed to cater for more pharmacists

(polokwane, 2017-01-11)

#320

I agree that pharmisists have to be treated fairly and everyone has the right to have a job.

(Tzaneen, 2017-01-11)

#322

DOH has segregated me since at the University and even now they are still proceedings to close future doors for me. They should release us from obligatory CSP programme so that we find our greener lives elsewhere.

(Pretoria, 2017-01-11)

#329

I'm signing because.

(Pretoria , 2017-01-11)

#330

Im signing this petition based on the grounds that the government is failing to uphold their promise for capacitating the newly qualified pharmacist for doing the mandatory community service.

(kuruman, 2017-01-11)

#331

It took over 5 months for me to be placed for Comserve after i had completed my internship.

(Port Elizabeth, 2017-01-11)

#334

I was a CSP in 2015 and was told I could not receive placement in my hometown due to no spots being available for non-bursary holders. This came at a great cost to me. I now have a brother who is a pharmacy student. I do not want him to have the same disadvantage I had.

(Cape Town, 2017-01-11)

#339

Am a pharmacist and concerned

(Polokwane , 2017-01-11)

#341

Pharmacist stand together. This movement will hopefully show the department that we are a force and will fight for the profession

(Durban , 2017-01-11)

#345

I'm signing because... (optional)

(portelizabeth, 2017-01-11)

#353

I am signing because I am a final year Pharmacy student who does not want to be in a similar scenario in two years time, being unemployed and not allowed to work as a pharmacist until a post becomes available or work in a private facility and earn less than an intern

It is sad that there is not enough posts available, universities should accept less people so that everyone gets a spot

(Durban, 2017-01-11)

#355

I am signing because our fellow colleagues are now with no jobs and the government is failing to place them. They have debts to pay every month and they commited to those debts knowing that they will not struggle to find jobs but now they are inhibited to work because of the obligation of serving the community and now there government has failed to place them.

(Polokwane , 2017-01-11)

#357

I am a concerned about this matter that if it doesn't get resolved I also might be the next one to suffer

(Sekhukhune, 2017-01-11)

#364

I'm signing because this is a problem that is affecting qualified individuals who have toiled for years to get to where they are. It's a problem I too will face.

(Grahamstown , 2017-01-11)

#366

I'm signing this petition because as a pharmacist I am concerned about the impact of this issue on my newly qualified colleagues. It is worrying that the budget constraints or other inadequacies from the side of DOH are precluding people from practicing the profession they have studied towards for 4 years or more and invested a considerable amount of time and resources in. This matter needs the attention of role players on the highest level.

(Centurion, 2017-01-11)

#369

Government is failing us

(Pretoria, 2017-01-11)

#370

I'm signing because I am affected.

(Port Elizabeth , 2017-01-11)

#377

I believe that the rights of the pharmacists are being violated.

(Cape Town, 2017-01-11)

#383

My wife's personal considerations were clearly ignored and it is clear that the system is very flawed in many areas of the placement and application process. This is upsetting because different people are at different stages of their lives. Some interns would be single and have minimal committments, while others may be older, married and planning on starting a family. In these cases also the significant other would be stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as his/ her job is concerned.

(Port Elizabeth, 2017-01-11)

#384

We need comm serv

(Pietermaritzburg, 2017-01-11)

#389

Study dept needs to be paid!! We need to be employed.

(Bronkhorstspruit, 2017-01-11)

#395

Gov cannot fund comserve and it's a limiting step to becoming a pharmacist

(Port elizabeth, 2017-01-11)

#396

I am signing this because this is very unbecoming and unprofessional. It has affected a lot of interns for 2017 as well, especially in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

(Pretoria, 2017-01-11)
