I suffer from BPD and don't have access to essential therapy such as DBT due to year + waiting lists. Mental illnesses are real, just as real as any physical illness. It can kill us. I'm scared every day may be my last, and there's nothing anybody can do for me.

(Regina, 2017-01-10)

#5

I am aware that there are not enough services for people with mental health issues. I want this government to make it a priority.

(Glenavon, 2017-01-10)

#8

I believe mental health should be taken more serious. You can't put a $$ on a persons life.

(Saskatoon , 2017-01-10)

#11

My son suffers from depression and it is a constant worry for my husband and I. A 62 year old friend of ours committed suicide 3 weeks ago, leaving 5 children and 11 grandchildren because he was more afraid of living 1 more day than of dying and leaving them. Our loved ones and friends deserve ALL we can do for them! We deserve to NOT worry all the time. Please help

(Indian Head, Saskatchewan , 2017-01-10)

I believe we need a federal minister for Mental Health and deal with the inequalities that exist for all who suffer from the debilitating disease.....all of our provinces need to be on the same page and equality is a must across the board for both rich, poor and somewhere inbetween...no more people falling between the cracks and dying.

(Riverview NewBrunswick, Canada, 2017-01-10)

#23

#33

We have mental health issues in our family and there is NO mental health help its gone from one extreme where we institutionalized too much to really having very little real help. More needs to be done and quite trying to shove it under the carpet

(Osage, 2017-01-10)

#35

There are way too many ppl with mental health issues. And they're not being addressed in the right way... there should be more money put into mental health... my younger sister is bi-polar and there are many many more out there that require a better form to f life...

( Indian Head ...... sask..., 2017-01-10)

#37

Saskatchewan's record on mental health care and treatment has been lacking for decades. It's time to create a real department providing real help.

(Indian Head, 2017-01-10)

#39

Mental health is such an enormous issue that it deserves a minster to focus completely on it.

I am a user of mental health services. Took 3 days of going to emergency and being released during crisis. 3 month wait to get Assigned to psychiatrist 8 month wait to see psychologist and half the nurses laid off. I went in to get off the high dosages oh benzos and cocktail of antidepressants in a supervised withdrawal. ... instead released with an "on your own" 9 month plan. While in the ward. Individuals who went to emergency suicidal and turned away and had to go back another day with someone to get admitted. Others that were self admitted had been 5 days without seeing psychiatrist. ..therefore not able to be given any of their meds, outdoor privaleges to at least grab a smoke and no access to any nicotine gum or patches in order to help. So double withdrawal and when they would get upset and demand to see someone for help ( granted using some profanity) head nurse threatened to strap them down. My psychiatrist that I was ASSIGNED by mental health clinic saw me twice. Initial appt and one many months later. The rest were phone apps. About 10 min max. Never had file in front of him, never remembered last call or med dosage, constantly making med mistakes requiring multiple calls to office and pharmacy wasting time. And all the time billing for apps over this 2 year period. If this is what the system offers intellegent people who don't misuse or abuse or take illegal drugs and such -who is advocating for street people or individuals with much more serious mental health problems. And all this after the gov't said it was a priority, there are no wait times and all is well. It has to be a dedicated portfolio with someone who KNOWS ABOUT IT not just a new brach tacked onto cabinet ministers plate. AND if it's this bad now - How will the "One big" health district help

(Regina, 2017-01-11)

#49

I agree that mental healthcare is extremely important and often overlooked and underestimated.

(Indian Head , 2017-01-11)

#50

Mental illness has touched my life and there is not enough resources out there for them.

(Regina, 2017-01-11)

#53

Because this is a huge growing concern in all age groups and has affected family friends and coworkers and in the end is better to deal with the roots of the issues -proact instead of react. Teaching people how to help themselves is empowering and less burden on us all moving forward.

(Saskatoon, 2017-01-11)

#54

An important issues that's falling on deaf ears resulting in the self inflicted injury /death of those who are entitled to mental health care / support.

(White city, 2017-01-11)

#58

I suffer from anxiety. I know there are many others who dont speak out and suffer when there's help out there. A Minister would be great to help organize education about all mental illness.

(Indian Head, 2017-01-11)

#59

Because mental illness affects more people than any other illness. We are just touching on the tip of the ice berg. Just wait.

(Indian head , 2017-01-11)

#68

I have dealt with my bi polar ex husband, it was a nightmare getting help when he desperately needed it.
We also had to wait for a yr to get help for our daughter with a previous mental health issues prior to coming to live with us.
The health of my loved ones is paramount and the serious lack of understanding and availability to help when in crisis is unacceptable to me.
Our efforts to help them when in crisis is limited especially in the rural areas and access to help equally limited.
I myself suffer from PTSD and depression as well and five yrs ago when I needed help the most it was equally challenging to get the help I desperately needed.

(Indian Head, SK , 2017-01-11)

I also am a family member who has experienced depression stealing my loved one from this reality, an uncle who lived with altered perceptions due to schizophrenia and most recently due to life circumstances I have also experienced my own "hell", and wished that I could just go to sleep and not have to deal with the pain and despair .....lives matter.....please help.

(yorkton, 2017-01-11)

#109

I'm signing because I truly believe more trained professionals need to be put in easy to access areas or high mental illness risk centres such as school divisions, care homes, addiction centres, specialized health areas like cancer clinics. A place outside of a doctors office who is a general practitioner not specialized in mental health. An accountable leader is required to oversee coordination of inserting this service where required, manage the budget and have the power to make decisions without any bureaucracy and process holding the services up.

(Qu'Appelle , 2017-01-11)

#135

We need to get ahead in caring for people with mental health-proactive instead of reactive!!!

(Outlook, 2017-01-11)

#136

I am signing this petition because I have bipolar, OCD and anxiety. While I'm successfully medicated, there are unfortunately many others who are not. They either do not get the help they need from the medical community or are ashamed to reach out. Some dont even respond to treatment. All provinces, and Canada as a whole needs a Minister of Mental Health. Depression alone costs companies millions annually due to sick calls, lack of productivity and so on. Imagine how much more money we could put back into our province is everyone was taken care of mentally. Imagine the improvement for families. Imagine the stigma erased. We need a minister ... like decades ago.

#152

(Regina, 2017-01-12)

#157

Because I have used mental health services and I feel this needs more structure and is a bigger problem then we want to admit......

(Fort Qu'Appelle, 2017-01-12)

#159

I feel most individuals deal with "mental health" challenges at some point in their lives. Either themselves or someone close to them. It is difficult to find help & the stigma surrounding mental health prevents people from getting the help they need. I believe private services should also be subsidized by the government because the current MH services offered by the province are greatly lacking. The service provided by public health is inconsistent & is sometimes difficult to access. MH issues are on the rise and are costing people their lives. I lived in Nipawin & the tragedies in Tisdale & Choiceland should be a serious wake-up call to the importance of MH. As an educator we see the challenges MH issues cause in students & how it negatively impacts their learning & social/personal lives. I believe every school in the province needs a full time school counsellor or social worker.

(Outlook, 2017-01-12)

(Indian Head, 2017-01-13)
